Some idiot broke into my car on Sunday morning :mad: :mad: :mad:. We have something called a Sunday market, where people come and sell local grown vegetables and fruits basically. But there are other stuffs too.
Me and my gf went in for like 1/2 hr and when we came out dissapointment. :'( . The USB box was open but none of the usb's were taken. There was nothing in the glove box, just the manual and a ew papers. But I ha d left behind my mobile phone in the drivers side door, but it was missed some how. :neutral:

Nah nuthin was stolen as i didn't have much in the car but i did have my phone in their but they missed it some how. We just moved our house and with all the moving around and setting up the new place it just adds to the expense. Its crazy atm.

Sorry Nilesh :'( That is not good .. Guess you had to pay the insurance excess (or cheaper just to replace the window?)
Did they scratch the paint or do any other damage than the window? :twisted:

Yea went to the dealer today and ordered the part so it won't be until next week that she'll be back on the track.
Yes Dazz, its cheaper getting it fixed by ourselves than going through the whole insurance process. Our access is AUD 700 and it will cost around AUD 370 to fix it I guess.
Talking bout access fees I have always wandered how much do our friends pay from other countries, cause my friend from Canada reckons that if he gets a car he'll have to pay insurance around C$ 200 - C$ 500 per month. Thats is bloody expensive.

The rest of the car is fine. Oh another question, doesn't the alarm go off when someone breaks in like that? or the i30 doesn't have an alarm? or is it something else?

I thought I was paying about $400 per year for each of my cars but even with a slight increase I only pay about A$350 each per annum... :razz:
Edit: I think we only get a basic alarm.. doubt it includes glass break but when they opened the door it should have gone off...

You'd need to install the thatcham cat 2 upgrade module for that (not sure how difficult) list price in the UK was about £110. For the price it's probably ultrasonic.

I dont think they can open the doors if they are deadlocked - ie locked with the remote control? Even if they reach in and open the lock inside - the door still will not open - thats how i think the deadlocking works?

I know people that never lock there cars for that reason, strange thing is they have never lost or had a car damaged. but i lock mine.
i pay $700 a year comprehencive here in Sydney, but a guy i work with just told me he re insured his Toyota Klugger V6 and its only $23 a month in Sydney they said this insurance co give lower rate if you do 30,000k or less a year, and its comprehencive. shop around.

yea thats rite... the door won't open. How could I forget. I locked my friend (he was annoying me :P ) in once and he couldn't get out, even when opening the lock. Can open only with the remote.
What happens if you lock your car with the remote and then try and open it with the key? Does the alarm go off?

I can understand that. I previously had a '98 VT commodore which did the standard locking via the remote, not deadlocking. To dead lock it you needed to insert the key into the door and turn twice. Early on in ownership I didn't bother deadlocking and it was broken into a couple of times quite easily - by removing the back corner window, reaching in, and unlocking the passenger door. They left the corner window on the car seat, and nothing was damaged, just a hassle to get someone to put the window back in. So I decided to start dead locking it. Someone tried to break into it again. They couldn't get in because it was deadlocked ... so they smashed all the windows and caused damage all over the car. I have come to the conclusion that such thieves are uneducated, dumb, don't have a conscience, and have mental problems which can cause them to lose their cool very easily. It was better if I simply let them get into the car, have a look around, and then move on. Police of course couldn't do much. I love vigilantes! :razz:

That's a terrible story Nev.. I too fantasize about reaping revenge on a**eholes like that :D

Quite recently a friend had his Golf GTI broken into and contents taken. Nothing unusual in that except for where he was parked, at the far side of a grassy meadow behind a hedgerow by the riverside and at least 300yds from the main road AND over 10 miles away from the nearest village/town...and he was a P.C!
I once had an Astra broken into 3 times (c 1990) in 10 days, on each occasion they had tried to get it away as the inside windows were misted with condensation and the ignition lit. At that time I'd started taking plug leads off after I'd had a car (loaned by the garage) stolen in Newcastle (Probably the UK centre for TWOCing at the time)
Round about that time I was working in an upstairs workshop overlooking parked cars in South Shields when a workmate said 'look, someone must have lost their car keys' 3-4 youths were hammering on the tailgate of a parked car, within seconds they were in, doors opened and away. I phoned the police but nothing happened.

Dazz: We just bought the new Santa Fe again and the insurance with all possible discounts (-30 or -40%) was around 1,800 eur (which means around AUS $ 3,050). For i30 I pay around AUS $ 2,200) :wink:

Thats pretty reasonable Hemmi considering we pay around 850 a yr, what are your age brackets like? eg: we have 21-24 (i think), in which I fall into and after that 25-something, which is when it gets cheaper.
Accim: Is that per year? Well its pretty expensive compared to Aus. But I guess they have their crappy reasons... :P

Hmm, not sure what you mean, it doesn't matter how old I am. I also got discount because my apartment is also insured at the same place.

Hi Hemmi .. In Aus they consider under 25's in particular as high risk and so premiums are much higher plus you get no claim bonuses (reduced premiums) which take a few years to build up...

Yea...and our excess is high as well...ours is through AAMI and our access is 700, but will be switching to TIO ( Territory Insurance O?) access is a bit less and so is the premium.
Good News got my window fixed. Cost me AUD 219 to get and AUD 136 to put it on. :S

We have quite big discount for insurance, because our all cars are insured there, house, apartments.. About age brackets.. It's only under 21 and over.. Or some insurances companies have some additional 3-5% if you are 50 or over.. Not sure.. We pay that much per year.. But in let's say Gurkha17's case, I wouldn't pay a $ for repair. And while the car is being repaired I receive "replacement vehicle" (unlimited kms) - my oncle had an accident and got free replacement vehicle for almost a month and drove approx 6,000 kms. All you have to do is sign the papers and pay the insurance of course..
