Title: Adding AUX
Post by: azrinhg on August 13, 2015, 08:02:43
Hi guys. I need some help. My car doesn't come with AUX but my basic radio does have a CD\AUX button. So can I just buy the jack assembly unit and hook it up to the radio?

Not sure what all that is about... before my time.

Okay - real short answer: No idea!  Sorry.   Slightly longer answer...

I have *not* seen either the radio or that kind of AUX port before - so can *not* say with any certainty... however one would *assume* that if the OEM headunit has an CD/AUX button, and there is no 'AUX' input on the front of the radio itself, then it will most likely have pins for AUX input via. the connectors.   The issues I can see would be related to 'hooking it up'.... is there OEM wiring for AUX input from the headunit to the appropriate position?   Or will you need to wire it yourself... if so you will need to know which pins are the appropriate pins for AUX (and USB) on the headunit (and maybe in the 'AUX" input module) - maybe the appropriate pins (AUX-IN-R, AUX-IN-L, AUX-GND, AUX-DET, USB D+, USB D-, USB/IPOD VDD and IPOD/USB GND) are as shown on this (https://i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=36289.msg370947#msg370947) pinout, or it may not be at all.

If you do discover the pinout for your particular OEM headunit please post about it... thanks.
