Title: Dash vent button
Post by: admoss1980 on August 19, 2015, 20:56:23
Hi,

2010 i30 1.6 diesel

Today the wife cheerfully informs me the AC isn't blowing out of the dash vents.

Checking it the ac is working fine thankfully.  What she means is of the three buttons on the right hand side on the centre console - where you point the blowers up towards the screen (top button), straight toward you (centre button), or at your feet (bottom button), the middle one doesn't seem to be working.

Checking and sure enough I don't get the green light when its pressed, but do for the top and bottom button.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Is the car still under warranty?

Heh.  Good question.  Literally just gone out (but I can't say I'm particularly happy with the dealership anyway).

Then I can't offer a solution I'm afraid - I was hoping you were within warranty.

So what your saying is the face setting isnt working? Or the face/feet setting?
Does the airflow change (control works but not light)

Is the button to the left of the 3 working, direct to screen only?

Wonder if switch stuck and needs to be freed?

Just an idea.......try fuse trick by pulling out and reseat.

Have you checked the vents are open

Thanks for the suggestion, which fuse would it be?  I looked in the fuse box but couldn't see anything obvious.

Thanks.

Did you check to see whether the vents are closed.

Too dark to check the fuse box in my car but on the fuse box cover it details the fuse layout so look for one related to air con or heater or similar

Just a late thought....... when the button is pressed does the light come on and is there a noise from the fan

Ok, will check in the morning.  Vents are open, light doesn't come on, sounds like the fan is working.

Yes, that is what I meant, the face setting wasn't working.

Been fiddling with it today and seems there was something up with the "off" button.  Which allowed everything to work except the face.  Sorted that and now all works :)

No idea why only the face was affected, but hey ho.

Do you know what was the issue with button or did it just start working again after fiddling with it

Just started working... I suspect it was some sticky residue from the child's fingers
