Keep hounding them especially if they gave a delivery date on the sales invoice.
Idea.
Enquire at another dealer and see if they can definitely deliver for Sept i.e. in stock. If so cancel contract, Breach of etc, and take your business to them.
-

yeah sad but now at least you get a 59 plate (every cloud has a silver lining)

I telephoned the dealer this morning to check for delivery date; "I'll check and get straight back to you" Now 19-45 and still awaiting the call. :'(
-
Sorry to hear that, the wait is always the hard part!
the i30 are becoming very popular here in Sydney, i now see a lot of them each day.mostly women driver's in petrol 2L and male drivers in the CRDi, they only do the special price ad's in the papes on the petrol SX never advertise the CRDi, don't know why but could mean limited stock of CRDi?

no point in hounding them the i30ES is a special order and they are only making 500 so not likely that any other dealer will have one either. They are made to order as far as i know.

When I had mine serviced last week the dealer was frustrated because they couldn't get hold of enough new cars. Ask for a goodwill gesture (e.g. mats or free first service). Are they taxing it for free?

Dealer called back this morning, car on line to be collected 28th August. Not too worried over missing the 59 plates. I usually see how many dented new plate cars I can count in the first week

In the UK you don't have to worry so much about your own driving but the bally idiots who manage to con their way into getting a driving licence and who don't care what havoc they create on their merry way, hence the many dents sometimes seen

Its funny every time I follow an i30 and see the rear badge if its a CRDi or the 2.0. The 2.0 almost always have female drivers and the vice-versa for the CRDi.
:S :)

It's a one-upmanship thing in the UK. It puts pressure on your neighbour to follow and buy a new one

Probably because girls just get into cars to see how many storage compartments they have and vanity mirrors, and a place for the coffee , cosmetic's and other gear they need to use or abuse on the move LOL. then they go do the deal, the CRDi puts the price up and the girls can't see what use the CRDi could be to them so they opt for auto as they know they can do there make up one hand, or if need be make up one hand coffee other hand and steer with the leg and they need hands free phone as they don't want to break laws LOL girls amaze me the things they can do while driving in traffic, they scare me too. cheers

LOL Steve, the state Government know this in my state so any number plate other than the poverty pack yellow and black off the rack is going to cost you $$ the dealer wanted to charge me $350 extra for prestege plates, i was not getting choice of letters or number it was just a plate any number or letter combo just different colour and size.
i said mate every car i've ever had came with a number plate that was just on road cost, so why are you charging $350, he say's Oh we normally put prestege plate's on all our car's as a service to our customers, i said that would be nice but i don't think the i30 is a prestege car so it's like perfume on a pig mate, take the $350 off the cost, so he did. but my ute has prestege plates and they only cost me $100 one off good investment as hard to get less numbers less letters early issue plate i had upgraded to prestege, now can't get them and if you have new ones made you pay $350 plus $90 anual fee, some plates cost lots more and have much higher anual fee. just this state.good $ spinner too

Popped in to see the dealer today. They say my car is in production at the moment. Got a pick from a (pretty un-exciting) list of 59 plate numbers. Still at least it's not TO59COK or similar.
Bulldog's and mine could be on the same cruise next month.
-
I think mine has gone off for a round the world cruise before i get it

ahhhh! i see :D
@Lakes....you're pretty spot on in your analysis, storage compartments in a new car was very high on my agenda :P...however any girl who does her makeup while driving needs to lose her makeup rights for at least one year on top of getting a fine. its really stupid.

Hmmmm, perhaps I should look more closely in the mirror. I drive a CRDi, manual and I'm pretty sure I have been a woman for quite a few years now. I remember working with a man who would open his newspaper on the steering wheel when he was driving to work.
-
an excellent responce,my best mate said my car looked like a girls car, after i took him for a drive he changed his mind.and now he wants one.

Lakes, I personally couldn't justify paying more for a CRDi for the amount of km's I do.. I've never driven a manual either :-[ nor have I ever been able to steer with my legs. I also hate having coffee on the go and I can't stand it when people are on the phone or when women apply makeup while driving as clearly they're distracted - change lanes without indicating, drive at a snails pace etc, etc..
The only storage compartments I need are for my sunnies, bottle of water, somewhere to put spare change and my lip balm..

SnowCherry you have not used parramaniac rd LOL, at morning peak hour 10k's out Syd CBD or any major road into CBD, military road mosman and Harbour Bridge are nightmares, but the real thriller is the M5 airport Tunnel.

same here. the dealer said its too much muck around for them to put my personalised plates from hold onto my new car and its easier for me to just go and do it myself...
and boy is it a money spinner. My new plates cost me 400 bucks to have them reissued in another style. They look like this: (http://i31.tinypic.com/vyntrq.jpg) and the least the RTA could have done is drill some holes in them and put them on my car for that amount of money!
