Hi,
I bought an OEM nav unit 2nd hand, and now all I (probably) need is a GPS antenna, but which one?
Will this one fit? It has a FAKRA connector. :link: GPS Antenne Blaupunkt Travel Pilot RNS MFD Becker FAKRA: Amazon.de: Elektronik (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B002QNY1SG/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=556245207&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0058T6ZM0&pf_rd_m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&pf_rd_r=0F4P7AZYPD1HH3FQ0BWH)
Many thanks!

No idea about that one fitting.
I know you can get OEM GPS antennas - but I have no idea if the required cabling would present in you i30 and/or if this is the right one anyway.

Original Wiring is not present, and I think it would bei too much effort....
But thanks for your help!
Any other ideas?

I agree that putting the OEM cabling in would be, for most, too much effort. Thanks for mentioning the wiring isn't present - it can be hard to know if it will, or will not, be when the feature isn't present.

So, i bought the gps antenna mentioned above, and also have finally received my head-unit.
Will try to install it this weekend. I'll keep you updated.
As I'll do the work anyway, is there anything of interest for you guys?
Ciao,
Alex

If you are dropping the headlining, maybe you could do a pictorial on how to do it! :D

I'll try to place the antenna inside the dashboard first. This really worked quite well in my other car (2012 VW Polo).
I'd rather not touch the headlining...
But, we'll see....

My mistake, I assumed you had a replacement for the standard roof antenna. :-[

nah, too much effort, for not so much gain..
I helped a friend of mine to rewire his antenna from the dashboard to the antenna outlet in the roof of the car.
Removing the headlining is the easy part. not creasing it during the re-attachment is the hard part. And those things are hard to come by and are very expensive - even 2nd hand.....

Yeah, I wouldn't be game! :sweating:
