3 yrs on, 105,000 kms. No real problems so far. Fuel consumption over the last year, 50/50 city/country driving....110-120 cruise in the country....not babied along at all... 5.69l/100km..17.6km/l...49.6 mpg. Not bad overall. I'd take these as realistic, real world figures.

We like it...except the missus sometimes forgets she's in a 6 spd diesel, as we barrel down the road in 4th or 5th....
I smile at all these "advertised" fuel economy figures bandied about by manufacturers and moaned about if not obtained by drivers in real world driving. As far as we're concerned, 1000km a tank in a 1600cc heavyish wagon is great - particularly as we don't hang around. ( we've both ridden motorbikes for 45 yrs and have 5 in the barn). As a comparo...our 1.6 2 dr Getz averaged 7.1l/100 km over 200,000km driven the same way.

It's interesting. In my previous FD diesel 5 speed hatch I used to average low 6's.
In my GD diesel 6 speed hatch I average mid to high 4's with a mix of city/country driving.
