Post by: debra b on December 10, 2015, 07:07:01
We have had our new i30 diesel for a week now & its showing 942km range when we filled it up.. Is that correct??

I get on average 750km's from my 1.6 petrol so I'd expect an extra couple of hundred from a diesel at least, you might even get slightly more than 942km's as the tank empties the distance to go will keep altering plus your new car will loosen up still giving even better economy.

Some members get 1000 k per tank. Your engine will loosen up after about 15k kms. Yes, the Diesel engine takes quite a while to wear in.

Is it auto or manual?

That is pretty good, because the Trip PC is usually conservative with DTE. Sounds like you brimmed the tank.  :goodjob:

I've never had the DTE show more than 800 km but allways get 1000+ km unless towing the caravan...  :mrgreen:

I barely get 500 miles, but i am in UK. Traffic and constant 30, 40, 50 mph speed limits.

Yours is also slightly tuned too Craig  :)

The longest I got, mostly driving on highway was 1011km, with 1.3L left in tank, so I was basically going on fumes :D
I weekly refill my i30 1.6D 110hp which gets me aroun 970km.

Since it is a 53L tank, I got my minimal from 4,6L/km up to 5,6L/km. Averaging around 5 to 5.1L/km. It depends if I drive with AC on, if i drive in both ways aroud 130km/h.

Since i drive around 150km/h to workd (since I am allways late), to around 110km/h from work.

By the way I do around 150km more per tank with OMV spirit diesel, than Petrol diesel.

If I brim the tank in my 09 i30 diesel I can get 1100 driving conservatively. All other times will hit 1000km without a problem

@debra b

Yup, sounds about right. And as others said, it'll even get better with a couple of thousand KMs.

I usually get 5,2-5,8 l/100kms on average, depending on the weather. Little higher in the wintertime. Lowest I got was around 3,8-4,0 when going about 150 kms with 80 km/h avg speed.

I'm a bit late posting, but i never take much notice of the distance to a tank when i first fill, just the distance i've traveled when i do fill.
The diesel rewards you it you drive it carefully , like don't rev it too high before shifting gear 2,000rpm is enough. also if you can brim it it makes a few 100k more. i was able to drive 1,300k on one tank before needing to refill but i never drove faster than 90kph on that tank. less weight, lower speeds & you will be rewarded! enjoy it.
