Interesting!

:whsaid: :ta:

Nice, be good to see a proper sports version come out :)
-
Not bad but that's a crappy vinyl wrap.
-
Looks like one model is really trying to fix the headlight range.
And it's not vinyl wrap, its hail protection.

Not sure I like the zip access to the rear Hatch... :undecided:
-
I hope they haven't made the rear end ugly, like another Korean car manufacturer.
-
I'd be happy if they lost the ugly front grill of the current model, but it sounds like I'm out of luck... :undecided:
-
Have you seen the front on the new Kia Sportage.....Talk about killing it....

but not as much as the 'scream mask' styling of the rear of the Pajero sport

They are both a bit ugly for sure...

Butt ugly in the case of the Poojabber...

THAT company hasn't improved over time IMO

I saw an article about how manufacturers camouflage new vehicles while driving them pre-release. If I can locate it I'll post a link...
Edit: Found the article: :link: Car spy shots: how to disguise a top secret new model (https://i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=38872.0)

They are both a bit ugly for sure...
It's almost like they took everything I hated about the ix35 and put it on the Sportage.....The headlights are just too small for starters....
-
Bit like the bosses new Accent, chunky beef. :crazy1: What engine in the 2017 i30 for Australia? :sweating:

What engine in the 2017 i30 for Australia? :sweating:
I'd say much the same as what we have now, Lester... :undecided:
From the article: while the rest of the i30's petrol and diesel engine range will be carried over with minor changes.

I sure hope they will introduce the T-GDI 1,0 100 & 120 HP like the Ceed have and what about that 1,4 T-GDI ..?? Time for some modern petrol engines in the i30.

Or the 2 litre petrol engine that was in the Aussie FD, 105kw.
-
You could always buy an SR, Lester....that has a 2.0l engine (124 kW)... :victory:

I am sure it is only a matter of time before the 1.0T engines get aired on the i30. For the record I had a shot of a Cee'd 1.0T in mid range guise (not the GT Line) and the Kia unit is MUCH more refined than Ford's. Both have that odd 3 cylinder "uneven" note, but the Kia version is much less rough and compared to the Focus the Cee'd seemed much more eager, the Focus was a bit dowdy IMO.
And who designed the dash in the Focus? You need a degree in electronics to push all those buttons in the right order, it makes me laugh that eating, smoking and texting at the wheel are regarded (rightfully) as dangerous, yet manufacturers can cram all those buttons into the car on the basis that it "enhances" the driving experience.

This could be why there is little incentive for certification agencies to do a good job:

Is the new i30 going to me like the 2017 USA Elantra

Hopefully I'm not the only one seeing similarities between the 2017 USA Elantra and the Jaguar XE?

Yes, I can see it. Although the hills in the background are a bit different..
The Elantra is evolutionary though with the styling (so not a dead copy)
In the early days Hyundai were shockers for "similar" styling, but in some cases I think other manufacturers are copying them.
If they were the same price I would have the Jaguar... :whistler:
-
I'll be excited to see what comes out of it. :)
-
I like the running lights on the new Elantra, nothing like that on the el cheapo Jaguar. :fum: :crazy1:
-
Just read that review. A lot more detail than most from Drive or Car Advice etc.. like the good old days..
-
Am I correct in hearing that the 2017 Elantra is going to a non GDI 2.0L engine? Could be a new engine in the 2017 i30. Non GDI?
-
Sounds like the top spec might get the same 2.0 petrol turbo as the Sonata, with smaller 1.4 petrol turbo in lesser models. That's in the USA, might be different in Australia and Europe.
-
Nice, a 2.0T in an i30 would be awesome!
