Title: Nošovice Czech i30 factory doubles shifts
Post by: Lorian on September 07, 2009, 20:23:21
From today (monday 7th) The Nošovice production plant will have switched from single day shifts to double shifts, day and night.

This is due to the increased demand for the i30 (German and uk scrappage) and the production of the Kia Venga starting later in the year.

Google does a really good job translating it. There are several i30/Nosovice articles on that magazine/news site, just google the site name and i30, then click translate. Kept me busy for the last hour.

I still failed to find out any details on how the cars get sent here though.

Haha good one hipposniper

It's funny, so many companies are closing down, going from day and night on single day shift and Hyundai can't keep up with the demands  8) Nicee

I thought she just had wind.

They must be really happy, as they have been recruiting thousands more people for the night shift. It was only back in January that the same paper was reporting the factory was working just 3 day weeks and the outlook was grim for carmakers.

Hi joey, how popular is the i30 there?

Lorian, in previous years 2007-08 was in the Czech republic considerably more popular i30 cousin, Kia Ceed. But with the start of production of i30 in Nosovice and more aggresive pricing from the Hyundai Czech in 2009 and a price hike after Kia Ceed facelift in end of summer, i30 is gaining traction in sales on our little market. Now it is on par with VW Golf. Only unbeatable Czech made car Skoda Octavia and thank to very low price of Renault Megane on Czech market are selling better then Hyundai.

Some statistic for 1-9/2009 months :
