Strange joke...
-
NBN is synonymous with joke in Oz.

NBN is synonymous with joke in Oz.
Ahh :snigger:
-
  :goodjob:
-
Sure is a joke where i live.
-
Not just the NBN, the whole internet in Australia is a joke.
My House in Baldivis which is part of a new estate about 3 years old can still only receive ADSL 1 :crazy1: and WiFi is very sketchy in the area also which we are heavily overcharged for :disapp:
-
Same deal in Tamworth. I was very surprised when i found only ADSL1 available. We got lucky a few years ago and got 5gb wireless for $10 on top of my mobile bill. 2 phones later and its still only $10.
We run out every month but its better than nothing. Got 8gb each for the wife's and my mobiles, so 21gb all up.
-
Only ADSL 1 here too. Despite the fact they're pulling NBN cables virtually past our back dor to the newer part of the suburb.
And our address sill doesn't figure on the REAL ABN check site. :crazy1:
-
I'm getting 10Mbps, movies are coming in at 4 minutes flat, at a cost of $40 a month.
And our Cable TV package delivers 70 channels at $18 a month.
-
We're on NBN and our internet is slower than it's ever been thanks to Telstra's rip-off policies. :fum:
-
I think the connection to NBN and my DoDo renewal are scheduled to occur almost simultaneously, so I will be interested to hear what DoDo can offer, otherwise I'll stay on ADSL2.
NBN will only be a good as the slowest link in the chain on the net, so those already connected, might like to comment on whether they are actually getting what they're paying for in terms of overall speed.
-
Recently got ADSL2+ with iPrimus which is much faster than the ADSL we were getting with iiNet.
I got annoyed with slow speeds (sometimes unwatchable) and less than wonderful picture on Netflix, so did the ring around.
iiNet claimed there was no adsl2+ on our exchange. iPrimus came through with the goods. Much faster now, Netflix doesn't buffer and now shows everything in 1080p. Which is funny, because iPrimus is lower on the Netflix speed index.
Unlimited everything for $10 less than we were paying......and shareholders get a 20% discount :happydance:
So if you are told that there isn't adsl2+ on your exchange, it may pay to ring around (it was a helpful woman at Belong (who wasn't able to offer me anything in my area) who told me that adsl2+ ports were free on the exchange. I just had to find a company to offer me one.
Oh and if you push hard enough no joining fees, and a $50 credit because I didn't want their modem

Thanks, good to know for our return to Australia. :goodjob:

Telstra encouraged us to switch to NBN as we were with them anyway and they said there would be no extra charge and it would be faster.
We double and triple checked no extra charge and were told absolutely no extra charge.
So we went ahead.
First bill came and they charged us $30 (per month) extra for "Super Fast Broadband."
Sue complained and they said they could switch the super fast broadband off and take the $30 per month charge away, but it wouldn't be as fast.
They were right.
It is slower than what we had. Videos are constantly buffering and it is a pain.
I fully intended to complain to Telstra/ombudsman about their false representations but I never seem to have a spare two hours to talk to someone in Mumbai so I haven't as yet done that.
They were dishonest. There is no other way to describe their actions. :fum:
