Title: auto down driver's window. 2010 i30
Post by: i30trev on March 13, 2016, 04:02:30
I like my 2010  i30 wagon (SL)  but one thing that irks me is that the driver's window won't go up automatically only down. Even my 2003 Mazda had both auto up and down driver's window. I was wondering if the SLX version had the auto up feature and if so whether I could get a switch unit from a wreck or whatever and correct the situation. Would the door switch module be all I need to convert it or is more involved. Any advice would be appreciated.

Trevor

No, it's the same on mine, too. Doesn't bother me at all though.

When you say no do you mean no it won't work or no the switch unit is all you need?

Thanks Trev

I mean no it works the same as yours. Not sure if it's possible to modify the function at all.

Personally, if I'm raising the window all the way I pick a safe moment to hold the switch. Sometimes I don't want it all the way up.

My Premium FD and current GD both had/have auto up/down on all windows - marked as such on all the switches.

@i30trev  There are aftermarket modules to do the auto-up but it does involve more than just a switch.

Hmm I wonder if that was FD top badge in Australia? or if that was a regional variation for the UK/EU top badge?

Probably going to be hard to get hands on the appropriate piece.  And I suspect no one has done it yet, with OEM parts at least.

On my 1.4 Active I just have driver window auto down.

I need to hold button up to raise.

All rest are push/pull button to raise/lower

None of the FD's in Australia had an auto up feature.

If an overseas model has it, and you could get a hold of the part and it was for RHD you could essentially just swap out the switches.

I have an after market module in my FD which gives me auto up, and auto down all on the windows. It also winds up all the windows when you lock the car. I don't think I could own another car without having these features.

In regards to someone who said they like to have their window not all the way up, its still easily done with the module. You press up, and it goes up automatically and when it's at the height you want you just press down and it stops there. (and visa versa)
