Finally, after two months of waiting, I got my Active diesel auto.
The dealer threw in window tinting to make up for the wait, and I decided to add aftermarket alloys to replace the standard steel rims.
I wasn't sure about the black rims at first, but the salesman convinced me that they would look good with the dark metallic grey and darker windows.
Gotta say, I LOVE the diesel/auto combination. Just wow.

Congrats Steve, Looks great (Yep, the little 1.6 Diesel is a cracker)
Be nice if you could host a bigger picture via Imgur or similar... :whistler:

Thanks. I'm new to this site, and merely uploaded as per the attachment thingy here. Not sure how to do Imggur . Also, size of pics seems to be limited to 25 kb each. Drats.

That is a nice looking car. The tinting with the colour and the wheels go well together!!
-
Nice :goodjob2: :goodjob:

Thanks. I saw a range of colours of i30s at the dealership and settled on the grey.
Due to the car being waaaay overdue, the dealer threw in tinting. I wasn't going to bother, but the but it's great. The guy at the wheel place (Bob Jane, for those in Australia) had a strong view that the black wheels would look good. I REALLY doubted him, but glad now I went with his suggestion.
Actually, when I took the car in for its first service, the guys in the service department remarked on it too.

Another happy diesel owner!
Love the torque of the diesel, the auto would have quite a bit of punch with over 300 torque and the 7 speed
You choose well getting grey, perfect colour to keep clean and doesn't show light swirl marks like other colours

To be honest, I thought the raves about diesel torque were all hype. I have a favourite hill - in between Toolern Vale and Gisborne, Victoria - which is about 5km long, and it gets quite steep at the crest.
The 'little' diesel doesn't even change down from 7th gear. Frigg'n unbelievable.

Brilliant alloys :D

Throw a camper trailer weighing a tonne behind it and it can still climb a hill in 5th gear (got an 09 FD i30)
Sinclairs Rd in Rockbank has a pretty good dip...that was pretty fun

Ha! I go down that dip every week on my way to visit my parents in Sunbury. Yup, it's steep!
