Title: Gearbox or clutch problems HELP!
Post by: Ciaranneill1993 on May 28, 2016, 19:10:52
Specs -

2011 Hyundai i30 estate 1.6L CDRI
Right hand drive
6 speed gearbox
113,000 miles

Problem -

Doesn't like going into any gear smoothly but specially first and reverse

Putting it in reverse is hit and miss ( sometimes it will grinch and grind and other times it will go in as if there's nothing wrong with it)

All gears feel clunky and hard to push into gear but sometimes they are fine

If you try and push it into first WITHOUT pushing the clutch in - it moves forward without being engaged.

- I have replaced the slave cylinder thinking it may help but it did nothing.

If you try and push it into first WITHOUT pushing the clutch in - it moves forward without being engaged.

What result were you expecting, no wonder it's rough.  :fum:

Moving forward proves that your synchromesh in 1st gear is in good condition.

:welcum: There has been recent discussion on here about replacing the transmission fluid and even using additives. Both these things will greatly help your issue. Make sure you use good quality products. ..
