GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => GENERAL => Topic started by: Doggie 1 on June 03, 2016, 08:03:20

I have been telling myself that I am imagining it.
I told myself I must be wrong.
I have been feeling some steering issues raising their ugly head again at highway speeds.
But today on my way home from Perth, I thought no, it's not my imagination.
So I called into a tyre shop and have booked the car in for a wheel alignment to see if that is right or is contributing to the problem, but I fear not.
The guy at the tyre shop said, "We see so many Hyundais with electric steering problems. It's quite common, but more so with i45s."
Interesting.
I will, as always, keep you posted.
Jean turned 180 today.

Could you elaborate on what your steering issues are?
When I was searching for a good 2nd hand 2012-2014 i30 Tourer - there were quite a few where the steering didn't seem right. There were a few which exhibited what I'd call lazy steering - where the steering just didn't seem to be active and felt vague or alternatively where the steering seemed to be super heavy.

Not withstanding anything Dave will say, be aware that there are a choice of three steering settings (known as flex steer) While the reviewers say it is a gimmick, I changed the setting with a single button press on my wife's tourer and it made quite a bit of difference. She went from "this is crap", to now "that is much better...."

Not felt at town speeds but at highwy speeds it seems to lose assistance and becomes heavy and "locked."
It will always lock when not pointing straight ahead so you have to keep making small adjustments at the wheel which results in doing little zig zags down the road.
I really, really hope that once the alignment is done it's all good again. :fingers:
