Title: Petrol filler caps for 2009 1.4 model
Post by: Rayofhope. on June 06, 2016, 19:15:13
My i30 engine warning light is on continuously, it has been to a Hyundai dealer for the codes to be reset and diagnose a fault and repair and a steering upgrade. After a days driving the warning light has come on again and the car is difficult to start after about an hour of cooling down after driving. Could this be down to  a damaged fuel filler cap. I have noticed that the little plastic disk at the bottom of the treads is missing and the cap is no longer airtight. Could this be causing the problem. The service manager at the garage had never heard of this problem before and wasn't sure if the cap was the non ventilated type.

Hi Ray,

Not sure, but would guess that all recent Hyundais use the same filler cap.

If too dear from the dealer, you may be able to get one to try from a local wreckers yard.

If they aren't wrecking an i30 they may have a getz or i20 cap or something you could try for a pound or two...

Thanks, I just hope it is this especially as there is no hiss or whooshing sound as I remove the cap for filling. Just hope it's now a problem with the EVAP filter.
