Purchased a 2nd hand 2013 i30 GD Tourer a week ago.
Have just come back from taking it on an extended run from Hampshire to Yorkshire and back.
Now that I'm back home and had the time to go through the documentation that the dealer gave me. I'm unable to find any references to Key Codes, Immobiliser Codes or Radio Codes anywhere in the documentation folder.
First Question: For a 2013 vehicle - how were those codes initially provided when new? Were they written in a book - or piece or paper or card?
Second Question: If the battery did run flat - what would break? I'm assuming the immobiliser & Radio?
Third Question: Anyone know what would Hyundai UK charge to get those numbers?

I used to disconnect and charge the battery from time to time with my i30 cars and everything worked fine after the battery was reconnected - hence no codes were asked for.
I now have a KIA and none of the information you mention was provided - but vaguely recall that the i30's came with a tag on the key ring giving the key code.
I would guess that the dealer can get this code from the VIN number.

This afternoon I rang Hyundai UK and the local Hyundai dealer regarding obtaining these codes.
Long story short... I was told that the i30 GD 2012+
- doesn't have a immobilizer/key security code as it uses a rolling immobilizer code.
- that the i30 Action radio doesn't have a radio code.
Have no idea if this is correct? Will have to see what happens when the battery accidentally runs flat....

That sounds right to me. It's how I've understood the key codes to work for a while now.
But.......... note this description.............. A rolling code (or sometimes called a hopping code) is used in keyless entry systems to prevent replay attacks, where an eavesdropper records the transmission and replays it at a later time to cause the receiver to 'unlock'. Such systems are typical in garage door openers and keyless car entry systems.
Can someone explain to me (maybe @The Gonz ), how if the code changes each time the key is used, the second key which could be miles away at that point, can still unlock and start the car.

To put it as simply as possible, the transmitter and receiver maintain the same sequence of codes based on an algorithm that generates them. To avoid losing synchronisation, the devices are more forgiving than just looking for the next code. They may use a sliding window of as many as 100 codes. Given that code combinations go into the millions, getting 1 out of 100 right is still diamond-class security.
I've built lots of these kits and sold them as radio remote control door openers, only to discover they were my biggest threat when I was in Afghanistan.

Just to add to the confusion...
In the manual 4/4 it says:
"Keys
Record your key number
The key code number is stamped on the bar code tag attached to the key set. Should you lose your keys, we recommend that you contact HYUNDAI authorised repairer. Remove the bar code tag and store it in a safe place. Also, record the code number and keep it in a safe and handy place, but not in the vehicle."
Also in the manual 4/5 it says:
" In order to prevent theft of your vehicle, do not leave spare keys anywhere in your vehicle. Your immobiliser password is a customer unique password and should be kept confidential. Do not leave this number in your vehicle."
Seems I'll have to ring Hyundai UK again...
