GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => GENERAL => Topic started by: XinZhao on June 29, 2016, 17:30:16

I first noticed it few days ago after some stormy weather. In the morning I got in the car, turned the key halfway and saw some unusual blinking, like the battery was almost dead.
I didn't turn the engine on, yet. First i checked for moist/water in the engine compartment but it was all fine and i turn the engine on with no problems.
Today I noticed the same blue lights (from ECU) blinking at some point I think after turning the engine off, then again on..
Anyone had the same issue? Is the battery close to the end? I had absolutely no problems in the winter - it was starting straight away.
I drive long distances 90% (or more) of the time

Are you sure it's the engine warning light :undecided: mine is orange.
-
No, it is not. It is just the blue background light that in FD turns on when you open the door. Also when you open the door, you can read the total number of km traveled.
I will keep eye on it, and today also will measure the voltage of the battery before first start today.

Voltage this morning was 12.56V

What was the voltage when engine was on idle?
-
I didn't measure. But I have obd2 cheap ebay adapter and I use it with "piston" app from google play (it's free).
It goes up to 14.5.
I guess it's all fine now, because I didn't see any more symptoms.. only those two times. Maybe some water has gone where it doesn't belong.
About 2 years ago my Accu went dead after I left the indoor passenger light on for cca 2 days. When I wanted to start the car the blue light went crazy and the starter was completely dead.
It was wintery weather - around 5-10 °C
That probably impacted the battery lifespan but as I said, in the last winter I haven't had even the slightest problem starting the engine.

Looks like a short or a bad connection to me...
