A couple of questions re options that can be fitted.
Can you option up to the SR wheels? I was told yesterday that I couldn't have them fitted as an option?
I am sure I seen that you can't fit the body kit if you also want a towbar but for the life of me I can't find where I saw it?
Thanks

Hi twodogs,
Yes, you can fit SR wheels to an SLX - apparently you are supposed to fit spacers to the tie rods to ensure that the wheels never foul on the body on full lock. Having said that, I've driven an SLX with SR rims and they didn't foul. I think in the real world that's not really going to be an issue.
The (genuine) tow bar is attached to the body and doesn't require any substantial tweaking of the rear bar. The only genuine body mod for the rear that I've seen is a couple of bumper extensions on the side. They don't cross the middle of the bumper so shouldn't interfere with the tow bar.
Even if you went for an aftermarket bar, given that the bumper is not important to the tow bar you should be able to mod the bumper to work with the tow bar. Where there's a will there's a way!

Hello Michael,
I knew you could fit the SR wheels but yesterday I was told by the dealer that I couldn't have them fitted as part of my purchase which I found strange as the Hyundai site shows them as an option that can be fitted.
Cheers

tell him you want to see the manager, ask him why you cant option a set of sr rims :exclaim:my fatherinlaw asked could he option a set on his new elantra and was told yes.he soon changed his mind when he found out the price. :rolleyes:that's what stopped me optioning them on my sx hatch.

in the accessories guide it shows three sets of 17" wheels all of which show as available for the SLX
Chrome (which the SR has), Spider and Facet.
there's also the Bodykit, or just the sideskirts and then the spoiler
you also can't put mudflaps on a bodykit

options in Australia shouldn't vary from state to state, dealer to dealer.
-
When I asked about the SR rims - as 2i30s mentioned the price was horrific. Just get some aftermarket wheels and keep the SLX ones or sell them, no joke you will save thousands.
-
i was amazed when the salesman said he would option sr rims on an elanta. :rolleyes:two dogs salesman mustn't know What day it is.
-
Thanks Guys for the confirmation!
I was a little surprised when he said it couldn't be done! He was also taken back somewhat when I said I had heard you could and it was shown on the hyundai site as being an option that could be chosen but when he no it couldn't be done I thought I would ask the experts on this forum.

 try another dealer.
-
or try ordering them from the spare parts division.it may even be cheaper.
-
Certainly looking at my options and I will check that out also!!
May send an email to Hyundai direct and get it from the horses mouth.
-
Well I asked Hyundai direct whether one could option up from the SLX rims to the SR rims and this is what I got back.
Thank you for your enquiry.
A Hyundai dealer will be happy to assist you with your query.
Hard to believe that they were not able to answer the simple question.

Ask a different question.
"Why won't my dealer xxxxxx of xxxxx supply SR type rims when you clearly list them as an option."
And if you want to focus their minds add
"Maybe I should go buy a ceed instead?"
-
oh dear! sounds like you need to find another dealer
however have you given the consideration to just purchasing the rims after getting the car?
