Title: The 'Dark' button
Post by: snowcherry on October 03, 2009, 13:24:39
i'd love it if the 'dark' button dimmed the lcd screen down first before just making it dark.

 :)

(no idea if it can cos the book is in the car atm, or if mentioned before)

It'd be nice if the dimming dial would dim the whole dash. Being an amateur astronomer I have to ensure that I keep my eye's adjusted for the dark whilst observing and having to drive from a dark site whilst others are taking photos is a PITA when you have to keep the lights off, the dash lights are super bright and you can't see squat. I have to make some mods to the lighting anyway (the placing of red tinted cellophane or some red LED lighting will help) so I might have to end up making a big panel that fits in the dash area for those times when I need to drive off.

Dimming is quite important to me (I drive at dawn and dusk a lot). I'm not still sure what doesn't dim, but I will look making an electrical mod if anything is too bright.

The dimming dial does dim all the LCD screens as well as the instrument cluster and trip/window/heated seat illumination, the dark button is separate which only switches off the upper LCD.

No the radio screen does not dim with the instrument lights.....
be nice if it did or if the dark setting  was very light
 would be better imo

I should clarify my statement. Indeed the dimmer does dim the entire dash, but only when the lights are on. The dark button only darkens the audio system. It would be nice (for me anyway) to have the dimmer active at all times.
