Title: Second Job?

Hi, Im thinking of accepting a weekend job delivery job for some extra cash, however, I would need to use my lovely I30, it would mean about 20 start/stops on saturday and sunday, however, I don't want to cause damage to the car from wear and tear i.e overuse, during the week it just does the commute and back to my local workplace, any advice would be much appreciated  :)

i'm no mechanic or anything but i can't see why this would be a problem. you don't plan on caning it to get to each job on time do you?
as with any trip be kind to the engine and it will be fine. i don't see how 20 in one day or 20 in one week can be any difference; but as i say i have no idea in mechanics.

Thanks for the reply, I always drive the car carefully and the journeys would be short say 5-10mins each :question:

Wear and tear aside, there are a couple of issues as I see it.... but the laws could be different over there to here in oz...
Usually a domestic vehicle warranty will state specifically something like "if the car is used for PRIVATE purposes only"  or similar.
(Beyond that, you'd need to be a lawyer to argue the point, and a judge to actually decide if it is the case or not)

Here in Oz, another big danger (maybe even bigger than warranty) would be your insurance and registration.  That is paid usually on a private or business basis.  If you are using it for business purposes (for your job) the insurance companies COULD refuse to honour any policies you acquired for private use ONLY!

I'd look into it in detail BEFORE I used the car for that purpose.

That's my advice anyhow.  I'd be VERY careful.

Hi I have checked with Hyundai and commercial use does not void the warranty what it does mean is a 100,000 miles cap on the warranty, thanks for your comments on the insurance I would make sure that the insurer was made aware also,

The commute runs for the rest of the week should make sure your battery gets a good top up and as long as its not just a mile or two should make sure you dont turn your oil white.

Your task will be to drive as economically as possible if you are paid by the job rather than the mile!

Make sure you have the right caragory of insurance, in the UK this would require at least class 2 business use.
