Title: How do you protect your remote key?
Post by: andrew on October 12, 2009, 16:11:04
My key looks a lit worn only after being used for 3 months. I put it in my pocket with my other keys. not a big deal now but a bit worry that it will be worn severely in the long run. How do your keys look like?

My main fob is in pristine condition. I don't keep it with anything else, in pockets or otherwise. My spare is kept safe in my briefcase.

As my grandad used to say.. "look after your keyfob and your keyfob will look after you". Or something like that :D

I don't know how your key can be in such bad condition... my main key is kept on a keyring along with bottle opener, house key, etc, etc and i carry it in my pocket - it's still in great condition.

My spare was put in a very good hiding place. So good that i don't even remember where it is

Tim.

My main keyfob I have had since January of this year, and it's still as new.

Although, I don't like my girlfriend flicking it in and out. I'm afraid it'll lose it's ability to flick from "garaged" to *cough* "erect".

LOL

I can't help but flick it in and out whenever it's in my hands... it's like a pocket knife...

Ha, that's actually a GOOD call Duckman...
I hired a Holden Statesman (they have a similar remote key thingy) in Brisbane a few weeks ago, and its key was, er... "Droopy"!

Heh, "flaccid" seems more appropriate!

Just thought of one: "Is that a KeyFob in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"

Fair enough !

But if you watched them at Bathurst on the weekend, you'd swear they had FIXED keys, and Fold up Engines !!!

(Seriously though the new ones I have been getting recently, have solid keys.  Much smaller too with a separate remote like this one).

Sadly, it is as a product mate.
Even if you have a pink one with BIG fins on it !

And once they reach 40K, they will even be gone from rental places altogether too I imagine !

Anyhow, I stand corrected Sweetbix !  I should have said not ALL Fords have them.

Spare in folder with all my car documents

Daily used key - jacket pocket and or on a shelf in the kitchen when not in use.

Both look like brand new, even the 1 I use daily
