Title: Successful Android Auto Update
Post by: Thunderbird on September 22, 2016, 10:36:21
Dropped the i30 off for its complimentary first "service" (1500km or 1 month) and had Android Auto installed while it was there. Seems to be working as intended, here are some pics:

This is the screen of the phone (S7), phone can't be used whilst it is connected.

Could I ask, Did you have any issues at all with audio?
Since getting it installed I have yet to be able to get android auto to produce and sound from the phone.
It will "play" music or anything, but won't produce and sound (including things like the microphone "bloop bleep" when you tap the mic for search). Have tried this on 2 phones, and I also did a factory reset on my phone as well. So far a Nexus 5 and another phone I'm not sure of.

Anyone else experienced or heard of any issues like this?
It sucks cause everything else about it is great and I want to use it.

Can you give me a list of the sounds you want it to make? Then I can test mine to compare :)

Literally any sounds.
Music from the Google Music App
Podcast from Pocket Casts App
Navigation Directions in Maps App
Voice Feedback from Search questions after pressing microphone.

It's like there is either a global mute or something.
Radio and Bluetooth Audio in the regular part of the infotainment system work fine

And interestingly enough, when in android auto, when I hit the microphone, The little expanding circle does seem to respond to my voice as I say something which says to me that it can hear my voice (Sound in) but just completely disconnected from sound out. I feel like there's gotta be some simple fix. Unless the dealer did something weird when installing it, but you would think it would just be a firmware update over USB, and if they did disconnect anything, it would disconnect sound from the rest of the infotainment system also. What I really need is another i30 with Android Auto to try my phone in.

Appreciate any diagnosing you can do on your end (say if you have a friend with a Nexus 5 :p )

All that you mention, are working fine for me.

My phone is a Galaxy S7, FYI.

What is that "Podcast from Pocket Casts App"? Is that an add on to Android Auto?

The topic reads in an interesting way. My Android phones and tablet all get Auto Updates. :whistler:

@korbot
Does the music play through the speakers using Androis Auto?

I think this means it does play music but doesn't play navigational instructions and bleep noises etc.

Yeah i thought that but then he says "music from google music app" so i was trying to clear that up.

@cruiserfied
Yeah sorry that was a bit confusing.
When I say it plays I mean the interface goes from the play button to the pause button and the time marker moves along the track as if the app is working properly and "playing music" but that never translates into sound coming out of the speakers.
So yeah no sound at all, in any app or from any interface interactions. Hope that clears it up.

@Thunderbird thanks, I'm currently trying to hunt down someone else with an i30 and the AA update (my brother should have it soon) so I can try my phone in that, but I might try and find someone with a galaxy s7 to try their phone with the system. Also podcast is a type of media, and you listen to it with a podcast app, in my case I use pocketcasts as it has developed android auto integration.

I'll take a video to demonstrate if that helps.

Take it back and make them redo the upgrade, it'll work.

... really? I would have just assumed they would blame my phone or something which is why I was trying to get some evidence to the contrary before I tried that. But you reckon that's worth trying just straight up?

I would remove all third party software and do a fresh install of AA (in your phone), without other software, before doing anything.

If AA then works, it may be a software conflict, and so, not the fault of Hyundai, but if it is the same, by all means rip into them  :TutTut:

Yeah, that's what I already did (took like 3 hours to factory reset) Unfortunately, no dice.
