Title: Hyundai 1.4 engine
Post by: Myowni30 on October 19, 2009, 13:46:20
I notice that my new i30 1.4 petrol engine has KIA on the engine block.

Just out of interest, is this engine known as the Gamma unit.

Yes. Its used in Kia's and Hyundai's like most of the engine options.

IIRC the Kappa is only used in the 1.2 i20's and maybe the i10 (and some kia variants) but not sure.

If you look at the bit and bobs attached to your car they are branded Hyundai and KIA, either embossed in the bit/bob or by the label attached to bob/bit

It certainly does! That's the first thing I noticed when I opened the bonnet when I bought the car.
