Intermittently (approx once a fortnight) when I first start up my i30 in the morning the vehicle makes a medium pitch whirring noise which lasts for about 3 seconds. Once the vehicle starts there is no further occurrence that day. It's not the fan belt.
Wondering if others have the same problem.

There has been quite a comprehensive thread on this in the past. Try a search on our site under "Weird noise on start up". That should give you lots of good info.
My car did this for a while on every cold start but hasn't done it for ages. I never got a believeable answer from Hyundai as to what it was, so I just gave up worrying about it. Fortunately though it has now stopped, although that seemed to be at about the same time I had the car serviced elsewhere than a Hyundai dealership !

Welcome. Yes Snookes is right. If I find the thread I'll put a link here. From memory it wasn't anything to worry about.
Check this thread out... Is it the same noise?
