Hiya all,
Just had a quick question in regards to speaker wiring in the front doors for the FD. I've opened them up and gotten out the speakers for replacement with 6.5 components, however, I am confused about speaker wiring from factory. The factory colours for either door are green and orange, does anyone know which one is positive and negative? I've battery tested the speakers once they were out and it seems that green is positive and Metra's harness seems to confirm this (https://images.crutchfieldonline.com/ImageHandler/trim/3000/1950/products/2015/32/120/g120727300-F.jpg),
but when I look at Elantraelite's post (:link: FD Speaker Replacement - Detailed Guide (https://i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=31345.msg329249.msg#329249)), he's wired them in opposite.
Does anyone know for sure?

i'll just quote what I see in a schematic, show pin 1 +, 0.85 G which is green , pin 2 - 0.85 O which is orange.
That's for both front doors, rears , pin 1 is +, 0.85 R red, pin 2 0.85 L which I think is blue

Isn't it just a matter of having all speakers "in phase"

Not sure whether polarity makes a difference these days (I guess it might with a big sub-woofer) or how the wiring leaves the amp to determine phase but being consistent either way, such as sticking to a colour scheme, would take care of opposite phase issues.

I figured to follow my instinct with the battery pop test. That at least shows polarity correctly no matter what and then followed it by testing continuity from the wires that go to the cones and the plug. The Alpine SPS-610C are a massive improvement over the stock speakers. Now I have to do the rear set when I buy them. Thanks for all your input!

Decent strategy. Good luck! :goodjob:

when you do, cross check the information I gave for the rear colour coding and let us know if it's correct. :goodjob:

Will get around to it one day, not too fussed on the rear speakers for the time being. Saving up for new springs and wheels now.

No need , I've been pulling my car a part and the colours for the rear matched up.
