This weekend I'm lending my support by playing Flamenco guitar for our dance troupe at the Paella Festival at Vic Market, so that would be an i30 Owners Club meet a little out of the ordinary. Plenty of paella and sangria to go around for those who want to make a lunch of it. :D
The floor show will be free ... seriously, would I expect you to pay to see me?

Wish I could make it there, would be interesting to see your talent Gonz and chow down on some of that Spanish cuisine.
-
Don't you mean "meat" with a difference..
Strum thing to eat... :D
-
Jeez Gonz - is there no
start end to your talent

He didn't say he was good at it! :whistler:
-
:ttiuwp:
Gonz, playing please.
-
Sounds like a fun day out, too far to go though, have fun.
Paella & Sangria in large amounts, a recipe for a headache and an overworked exhaust.
-
The irony is that I'm a gym junkie, all protein, no carb kinda guy, so I don't indulge.
-

More Irony! Gonz's better half Elena is a big fan of Pete and his paleo diet...
-
Nothing wrong with that. My brother has diabeties, and has seen massive benifits from following a paleo diet. I found keeping trim much easier when I cut bread from my diet too....
-
Funny how that happened. I came back from Afghanistan having spent the deployment on all protein / no carb and Elena was annoyed at having to cook for two different types of diet.
Fast forward a few months and people around us are using labels such as Atkins and Paleo and she's a bigger paleoite than I.
I don't use the label but that's pretty much how we've lived for several years now. :D
-
Okay non - indulger , gym junkie, how'd the event go ?
-
Flamen great, I predict.
-
 Sorry, I didn't take photos but I'll see what I can find online. We've got another gig there in about a month. :victory:
-
You must have been pulling strings.
-
I wasn't fretting. :D
We got complimentary paella and Estrella Damm beer (yeah, I know, but I made an exception). Nicest part was enjoying it with the dancers in the group, all lovely girls in their 20s. :whistler:
-
:D
-
Free food beer and women....Nice!!
-
Missed it this time, but will try for next time. I'll make a point of dropping past the forum to find out when. We have Spanish friends and I would walk over broken glass for a good paella. Love a bit of flamenco dancing too.
-
Well, that seals it. If putting on my black and whites and dragging a guitar out on stage is what it takes to meet Kitti, I'm in. :happydance:
I'll be sure to announce the specific weekend.
And happy birthday, Kitti. :Birthday:

Found it ...

Saturday, Sunday or both?
-
Hi, Kitti.
Both, which means I'm going to abandon my cadets as they attend the 75th Anniversary Commemoration of the Battle of the Coral Sea at the Shrine on Sunday. :blubber:
-
I'll see what I can work out. :workitout:
Family will be at the footy on Saturday, so I'll just need to organise myself. No promises, but I give it a crack.
-
Well, for what it's worth, Saturday we'll have two girls dancing but Sunday as many as six, so that's probably the show we'll stake out with several Go Pros for some creative video work.
-
Oh, but if you go Saturday, you can make it 3! :workitout: :shakehands1: :listentomusic:
-
Saturday is more likely. :Good_luck:
Believe me you don't want me to frighten the crowd away by trying to flamenco. :whistler: :snigger:
-
Latest update is that we go on at 2:30 :goodjob:
-
Thank you @kittikat for being my special guest today at the performance. :happydance:

It was a very good show and it was nice to finally meet one of you. :yahoo:

Great that you finally met another member Cecelia. Hopefully we will catch up one day. Gonz no doubt greeted you with a smile. He is a happy chappy! :goodjob: I just checked where Sunbury is... Oops, we drove right through it in early April... :-[

Tomorrow is Veterans Day and the 100th anniversary of the Charge of the Light Horse at Beersheba. Come down to Melbourne's Shrine of Remembrance 1000 - 1300 and say hello.

Hope you get some visitors Gonz. :victory:
-
Thanks, Dazz. I've delayed the event precisely 24 hours to give visitors more time.

Good idea, I'll book a flight...

Here's an interesting postscript if you're at all into ceremonial stuff. When I arrived to supervise my cadets, the retired Brigadier General running the event made a beeline for me and asked where the Chief of Air Force was.
I was about to reply "At home in Canberra, I guess" but he had begun explaining that CAF had not replied to his invitation.
OK, so I was happy to go along with his Plan B, to sit beside the Senior Navy and Army representatives in the front row of the marquee behind the parade dais, stand, lay wreathes and salute in unison with my two bruvvas from anuvva muvva, and sip tea and eat biscuits in the VIP room.
Had I known, I would have brought my ceremonial sword!
-
Gee it's tuff at the top! :snigger: :victory:
-
He wanted to know if you had been previously informed about the appointment. :D
