How long can you drive before the fuel warning light comes on ?
After you voted, please post also and say if you have a diesel or petrol ;)
-
Thanks Dave... That's better.
Hopefully my economy will be too when I get past 10,000km and the weather warms up!
-
We have a 1.6 CRDi and can safely get 1100+km per tank, but occassionally we get 1200+km. We have now done 19000km in 4 months and have no trouble geting fuel economy figures in the range 4.6 to 4.9 l/100km for each tank.

I voted 900-1000 because to be honest, i have never had the fuel light come on. I travelled 815 k on 40litres of fuel when i drove from Canberra to Melbourne and by my calculations, would have run out of deisel at around 1070. So deduct that the fuel light would have come on around 950k. Complicted hey
-
I get 1000 - 1100. That's without even trying, driving the car without lead-footing it, but equally not going light on the pedal either. Then again I live in a semi-rural area and don't drive in the city that much, so that helps hey.
-
I can drive 650km with a full tank in me petroll i30.
I even think I can get to 700km if I drive economicly every day
(Thanks for replacing this poll guys
)
-
i have a diesel,1.6,115hp, and i drive about 600-650 till the light comes on, i do not know how your traffic is but bucharest is like the city from hell
-
Well, my previous 880km has now been extended to 1070 - the fill to the brim method works
Filled to the brim tonight after 1089.6 km - 54.76 litres for 5.03 lt/100km
For our foreigh friends, 56.16 uk mpg and 46.47 us mpg
Driving to Qld in a few weeks, no reason why I cant approach 1200km to a tank if I behave myself
-
Hi,
i have the 130 2.0 petrol and i am averaging between 600-650km depends if i flat foot it all the time or not. naughty me! LOL
cheers

1.6 Diesel 115HP and an ass behind the wheel

The most I managed to do is 806km.
-
Don't know ... I filll it up every ~400km, that's about a half of a tank ?!
1.6 diesel 90HP
-
I get about 800km's but i only have 1800km's on the clock. Still running it in. With warmer weather will be interesting as it will soon be almost 40 degrees here.
-
I just beat my record for +14km
. I managed to do 820km,
-
I must be a lead foot.
I get to about 500k's before the light comes on, but then I can usually drive another 50k's before the trip computer starts to flash "--" and then I usually drive a further 30k's or so to get to the nearest petrol station.
-
About 1,000 kms first tank, probably only 53 litres in, took 44 litres to first click, 48 litres by filling slowly, letting froth settle. So probably averaging 4.4 l/100kms.
I was told to spend time at different speeds to help running in, so did some driving on fourth at 3,000 revs.
I will normally spend most time just over 2,000 revs in fifth.
I do a highway 220 kms drive once a week, so once its run in will aim for 4 l/100km.
-
I have done 1250km before the light came on, but that was driving like a granny. (Economy run)
Normally, 1,100km before the light comes on. Highway driving all the time.
Now that it is warming up, and I have done over 20,000km time to see some outstanding fuel usage figures.
-
Hi all,
Trip from Brisbane to Armidale on the New England Hwy ( hilly and lots of curves - but great road with lots of overtaking lanes) 838 when topped up with 230 on DTE total of 1068. Tank took 42.38 l to same point I started ( fuel visible - no froth ) calculated about 5.1 l/100 so DTE accurate.
I guess the range would have been 1060 approx.

I also have a petrol i30. I have just hit 1000km on it... time for it's first service
-
Just a suggestion
We should have two polls, one for petrol and one for diesel as there is a distinct difference between the economy of the two engines.
Lately I have been consistently getting 1200+ on each tank, although for convenience and pricing, I tend to fill up short of the 1200km but rarely before 1000km.
Interestingly, when I fill up lately (about once every 7-10 days), the distance to empty shows 907km. Once I have done about 300km, for each 10km I travel, the distance to empty decreases by 5km. I am still to work out when this ratio changes, but I would say it would have to be under 200km.

Fair call Bob... Maybe just leave this one as is. Crdi range is fairly well covered on the site .. and someone with a Petrol could start a fresh thread just for the petrol...?
-
How far? Never tested but I'd say - Until the tank is empty

Hi i30 dave those figures look good but I have at best got 857 km from picking it up from the dealership.L/per/100 is at 6.I do hope this all inproves a bit .My driving is not flat out driving but do like the feel of the turbo and have not taken the revs past 4000 in any gear. How many kays do I need before I can expect the fuel figures to inprove . Cheers
-
Hi Garry (I'm not i30 Dave... he drives a 2.0 petrol SR so I and other CRDi members might be better qualified to answer your question)
There is a fair variance in economy between members with "our" model. Thumper and Bob amongst others are regularly getting around or better than 4.7 l/100km where others like Myself and snowman are getting closer to 5.5 L/100km on average...
Tassie where I live is a lot hillier than South Australia where Bob lives and a lot colder. Thumper was the first to establish (against expectations) that the CRDi is more economical in warmer weather.
6.1 is a bit high though and I would be trying to keep your revs between 1500 and about 2600 as much as possible (and use a trailing throttle on down hill runs if you are looking for economy...
That is my take anyway... I've done 16,000 km and haven't noticed any great improvement in my economy. Hoping it will improve a bit as temperatures heat up for summer.
-
Hi Garry,
The other question is, is it auto or manual?
6.1 is a bit high for a manual, but more than acceptable for an auto transmission.
-
Eyma,
Garry says "he hasn't taken it past 4000 in any gear" so I assumed he has a manual.....
-
I got 615km from a full tank after a weekend down south coast. It was a good drive.
The car did me proud
-
1,030 kms until the light came on
-
550 km with full tank od petrol with my I30, 2.0i petrol
-
update 1.6 crdi 146hp now I've managed to cross 830km and the light hasn't yet switched on, I've filled with 54 litres (before filling I had driven apx 30km with the light on) it shows 5.7l/100km, I have done 350km outside of bucharest and the rest in the city, in these km I have floored it sometimes, outside the city I rode mostly with 110-120km.h, I am particulary proud of how this mod is doing for me and my car :) the turbo sound is just fabulous :D
-
update 1.6 crdi 146hp
146hp :goodjob: .. how? That's some serious powerup to 1.6crdi.
-
1125km in my diesel manual CW, and I still only took 50L. Didn't want to risk any further distance.

Great effort
-
Petrol 2.0L 5 speed I managed just under 500 miles or roughly 788km with about 40% of my driving city bound.

THat is very good for the petrol version.. :goodjob2: :goodjob:
-
All of those miles were logged with the A/C system on. Perhaps when the heat breaks this fall I'll be able to get a little more mileage for my money.
-
I finally got to four figures from a tank. :happydance: It has only taken 2 years and 50,000ks, but I got there. :goodjob2:
-
Better late than never... :goodjob:
-
Never seem to run it to the fuel light but its showing 5.3 with about 50% town and 50% country running.Crdi.

Usually it's between 700-800 km, but I've managed over 1.100 km once with 1 tank. I think it was something like that. But I was way pass the "50 left" sign on BC. Had been driving with "-----" for at least 30 km. So not that much more left.
Oh, and the car, i30CW 1.6 CRDi 115hp.
Yeah, lately it's between 6-7 lit/100 km. A lot of short trips does that.
-
With the last tank I've done 1197km and the board computer was showing ~60km left (1.6 CRDi 90 HP). Then I topped it with little less than 58 L.
-
Hm, I chose the first answer, although I haven't checked that yet. I think the distance one may pass with a full tank depends on many factors, the major one is speed, I noticed that the lowest consumption is gained with 80km/h - 4.9 l/100km (according to a car computer); the second issue is grade of petrol (92 or 95) and etc
