GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => GENERAL => Topic started by: reecho on December 02, 2009, 09:50:59

My CRDi has developed a squeak.
Around 1500rpm while moving it can start but it varies. I had thought initally it was the drive belt but the AC doesnt change the tone or the volume of it. More a body panel squeak if anything or maybe engine mountish......feck i don't know.
Change in revs makes it vary though.
It sounds like it is directly behind the cluster, but winding the window down it is plainly obvious that it is under the bonnet somewhere.
Bound to be a bugger to find being so unpredictable...
Anybody had something similar....?

both our cars are still as tight as a drum[dented drums] maybee some one else has the problem
-
What's it like at 1500rpm when not moving?
-
It has done it once after i pulled up and checked.....not as loud
-
Hope it's not your VGT then
-
Get it in to the garage to be checked pronto.

I believe it is a combination of the bonnet bump stops set too low and the insulative blocks/trim in the top corners of the engine bay squeaking on the underside of the bonnet.
It squeaked when i pulled off the road for a coffee this morning and i held the revs to make the noise.....pop the bonnet and it disappeared..........YES...!!

Great outcome.... Not something you would of expected tho lol

Hi reecho,
i'd like to know if you finally managed to get rid of that squeak. I have a problem too with that @#* bump stops but no matter how i set them, i still get a creepy clank from the bonnet when running over minor but bluffy potholes.

Hmm no bugger my squeak is back....
Not sure now but i will do some investigation over the xmas break....
-
Yours is a "squeak". Mine is a "clank". Hmmm...
Mine is made by Czechs so i suppose yours is made by Koreans. There must be a difference
-
Ok sit rep on the squeak...
Hmm I feel a bit stupid now if what i did today was the issue.
My windscreen was replaced at 2500kms, and it appears that one of the plastic drip seals down the side of the "A" pillar was not clipped in on the driver's side completely. It makes perfect sense with the noise i was hearing. Feck i should of thought about this.
Only noticed this as i was knocking things in the front.
Cross fingers again but the longish drive today was a good sign... :D

That's good Reecho - Hope it's sorted now... :D

Yeah, It must get lost in the translation. I thought "Squeak" was Czech for "Clunk" in Korean, not "Clank"!!
