Title: Highway Code stopping distances for cars are 'woefully short', says investigation, claiming it takes

Highway Code found to underestimate the thinking time it takes to hit the brakes

New study says human reaction time of 1.5 seconds is twice what the guide says

The difference means it takes 22 metres extra to stop from 60mph than quoted

In a 30mph zone, the stopping distance is almost an extra two car lengths
