Title: Loose rear suspension bolt -recall on genisis
Post by: May13 on September 17, 2017, 12:12:31: Hi i30 owners. Just wondering if anyone has had problem with loose rear suspension bolt on their i30 car?? There is a recall for this issue on 10000 US hyundai genisis cars here. see Web link below

I'd like to know more about this.
I can't understand how a "manufacturing fault" can make a bolt stay tight for 6 years then suddenly let it loosen.

Do you have copy of report and wilkibg to share?

What is defective?
Bolt or suspension unit?

So, was it just parked up for lack of use or some other reason?
Sorry to keep pushing this but I spent a lot of years working on suspensions, mostly for rally cars and can't ever recall a bolt working loose over such a long time. Even 2 years is a long time. Icould understand it if a bush had deteriorated, leaving space or releasing tension on the bolt.
But I'm stumped as to any other reason.
One thing i've come to accept though is that there's always something new to learn.
Hence my interest.

Trust me, whlist we knew there was something wrong the way the car went out of control, we were shocked to hear that causation was a loose bolt. I bought car brand new in 2011. Only serviced once by at dealership where purchased.
