Yep, have had a few emails with teasers on the Kona over the past month.
There is an option on the H website to sign up to be kept up to date.
Still no release date for us down here in Oz yet, latest I've heard is late Sept or Oct.

I have been keeping in close contact with the boys at the local Hyundai Dealer who are super excited about the upcoming release. It was supposed to be late September, but they last they heard there was a 12 day delay (strike action?) and now expected to be early October.

I know that.
But the important states are on holiday. And HA has it's headquarters in NSW.  :whistler:

How dare you say Tasmania is not important!  :TutTut:

WA would be considered important to Hyundai too.. Probably biggest buyers of Hyundai's per capita of any of the states.

I guess there is no reason why the States that are open can't start selling a day earlier than the others..

I guess time will tell. Even if they start getting stock early next week they've got to do PD before they can display it.  :undecided:

Per capita isn't important if you only have a small base to work with.
It's OK Dazz. I'm just stirring.

No worries Trev, I'm just biting!

Still happy I got the SR though.  :goodjob2: :goodjob:

The guys at the local Hyundai dealership said they were showing a Kona on the books on Monday 2nd, but was in Hobart getting something fitted (I'm guessing the Audio) before being trucked up. Soon as they can spare one for an hour or two I told them I'd do a video review to share on here.  :happydance:

Ch 7 Sunrise program has been advertising a Kona give away over the past few days.

If that's the case surprised that haven't seen any H adverts for the car yet.

Still only initial marketing blurb on the H website too.

The first one has arrived in Devonport. They have a white one and this one... Apparently they are going to let me know when one of them is ready to test drive so I can do a Video to share.  :happydance:

Yep. Here's mine too.

Hi Trevor,

The time has nearly come for the Hyundai KONA to arrive!

The newest member of our SUV family, the Kona was named after a stunning stretch of coast on the Big Island of Hawaii. It’s also the name of a breeze that brings fresh change.

With a sporty look, nimble performance, advanced levels of safety and technology, the new Kona takes a sense of fun and adventure with it wherever it goes.

The Kona comes in an array of vibrant colours to match any personality. You can choose from one of our combinations of exterior colour, two roof options and interior trim, designed to create a dynamic contrast between the body and the wheels.

Stay tuned for the launch of the new KONA on the 8th October. It’s going to shake things up.

Regards,

Ok, so I got a message at 4.40 PM today they had a White base model and an Acid Yellow Top of the range ready for me to check out.

By the time I'd checked out the Acid Yellow one in the show room and taken some photos, I only had time for a short drive of the white one (which has been registered as a demo)

Think they look better in the flesh than in photos (not so "squat")

Definitely got more poke than a Toyota CHR and a more useable boot too. The interior of the base model is a bit bland for me, but he higher model is pretty snazzy inside and out.

I intend having a longer drive and taking more Photos and some video tomorrow so I'll do a fairly detailed review in a separate thread over the weekend. Having a bit of an off day today so probably not long out of bed.  :countsheep:

Definately looks impressive, but I think the yellow trim/seat belts are a bit OTT.
Disapointing that only has a spacesaver spare & can't see any mention of adaptive cruise control.

I don't mind the colour coded sear belts, says he with red ones... yes, space saver spare is hard to justify as there is room for a full size one. Unlike the i30 I don't think it has a lower boot floor setting. Yes, appears safety pack doesn't include autonomous cruise.

They were flat out showing customers both cars today so I just took a couple more photos and will catch up for a drive in the higher model next week.

The higher model is only a Launch Edition which is basically an Active and a half... Active with a few options including the safety pack and some colour coding. Think I have enough to do a mini review. Including a full brochure.
