I wish Canada had a chance at grabbing the i30N. The crackles, the pops, and the spooling induces quite the grin. Thanks for sharing the video.
Is this i30 made in Ulsan or Nosovitz?

Was it? The Type R lost its way some time ago (probably the previous generation where it started) and Hyundai pulled a real rabbit out of their hat. I think we are witnessing the birth of a giant killer. If I was a GTI (maybe even an R) I would be shaking...

The R is ugly, but the output figures are well above the N. He sounds like initially he was leaning towards the R, but Biermann's magic has done the trick. Not all about the output, more about the overall experience. :goodjob2: :goodjob:

I did some quick googling and think it is made in the Czech Republic (which is what I suspected)

Exactly, numbers are not everything. Ask the American muscle cars ;) They are all about numbers but going around corners? Not so much :D

Yep, thats what N stands for the link to Nosovice is primary, the link to Nurburgring secondary. It is a lovely piece of kit, have to admit to drooling over most of the videos so far (as well as signing up with Hy UK for the updates).

Ahh I see. Thanks for the info guys. I thought it was made in Korea, since it was being released in Australia as well (lucky). If I remember correctly, the Australian's i30s are coming from Korea, while the European i30's are from the Czech Republic. I'm guessing the premium i30N'll be the big exception. It makes more sense now with the N and all. I always thought the N stood for Namyang. Not sure why.
I had a little chat with the manager at my dealership while having my 6000km oil change service, and he mentioned that North America'll most likely have a Veloster N instead of the i30/Elantra GT N. Exciting news, but I personally prefer 4 doors versus the 3 (5 versus the 4 if we're counting the hatch).
-
Yeah, I considered a Veloster Turbo at one stage, but the i30/Elantra GT is more practical and even after all these years the Veloster styling is still an acquired taste.
-
Yeven after all these years the Veloster styling is still an acquired taste.
Call a spade a spade Daz ;) It's just ugly... :D

You never were one to beat around the bush... :winker:
Don't forget to update your signature. Think you've got your Diesel now?

No, never saw the point in that ...

Good point, thank you. Yes, we do, doing weekend trips now just to get to the first service mileage before my annual leave in two weeks. We are going for a trip in the south of the state that alone would be more in miles...

I just had my 10K service (actually up to 10,500 now after only 4.5 months!) I30's are too nice to drive I can't help myself! :crazy1:

Yea, they are very nice to drive indeed.
