Title: PD SR with a rear wing.
Post by: mickd on December 12, 2017, 08:59:31
Spotted a Blue PD with NICE rear wing on it today.
Car also had "P" plates on it, pretty sure it was a SR as well . Around Narellen area.
Going opposite ways when I saw it, will keep eyes open for it and follow and have a chat & a pic.
Fingers  crossed. .

The PD has a bit of a spoiler built in. When you say a wing, is it mounted above the hatch or sticks out the back further? Is it body coloured or black (did you notice)

Hi Dazz,
Yes a wing, sitting over the top and wider than the factory one and projecting out about 250mm more. Gloss black. Hope to see it again soon . Potential new member.

Not 250 mm, more like 175 -200.
Left a note saying there is much interest, free to join, great group.
Sits over the top of factory unit.

  I think with a spacer at the rear to kick it up a bit it would look better,  but, its different.
Hopefully owner joins and can provide more info  :Good_luck:

I think it looks ridiculous   if it was replacing the factory one it would look more OEM but sticking out like that really looks cheap and tacky, not to mention the drag it would create :crazy1:

I'm sure people will love it, or, hate it, or maybe a bit of both
Even though its black, it caught me eye at 80khm in opposite directions.
I've seen worse on the back of commodores & falcons as well as lancers, wrx's etc over the years.

Drag  ?! ?!
Im sure it will be the cause of many a "drag ", isn't that the purpose  ?

Thanks Craig but on second thoughts I do like the look of my GD as is. Thanks for the link I must admit looking at that angle of the wing, it definitely looks like an add on, not keen on that look.   :disapp:

No problem :goodjob2:, I'd seen them before somewhere but it took me some time to find them again.

Some might wish to go all out :D

that look's ok on the pd.
can you remember when everyone liked those on front window to stop sun on there lap, now windows go back more and never see them. a lot of heat comes into the car via the windows. the air conditioner works really hard here in Australia on a hot day with euro designed cars.

Yep, remember them well. Had a metal grill type on my HJ Holden station waggon.  The HJ was my first car when arriving as a 10 pound pom in 1969, no air con then, thought the HJ was the best thing since sliced bread. :D

you would have felt the heat more at the start.
sliced bread was not that hot as you could loose one slice and not notice lol.
poor dazz never knew what it was like in a black dodge with no air conditioner on a hot day in Sydney, the trick was open quarter vents up full. who robbed us of quarter vents?
