Title: (AU 2009 CRDI) Steering and AT fluids.
Post by: kroner on March 08, 2018, 05:44:10
Hi All.
my car has done around 120k and i think it might be time to do the fluids.
I bought the car at 80k, but I doubt these were done at all.

Is it time? If so, what product available in Australia do you recommend?

Thank you!!!!!

My personal preference for power steering and gearbox is Penrite full synthetic's, the spec's needed will be mentioned in the owners manual or you can type in your vehicle details at Supercheap for easy reference  :link: Select your Vehicle - Supercheap Auto (http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Vehicles)

You can forget about steering but for the AUTO I've used Penrite AUTO MULTI  FS in both mine with no issues. Done about 30-40000k and likely flush again at the end of the year.

Although there may be differences of opinion don't do the drain and refill. Waste of time and money

Wow. Same fluid for both? Is 4l enough?
Full flush with a pump or nothing? I was thinking of getting it done at the mechanic so i think he does that, but i like to buy my own fluids and parts
Thanks guys

Huh? for both? Both what?

Mechanic sounds like a plan, may get it done with 2 x 4L packs

You do realise these are Electric Power Steering, not hydraulic

Didn't stop a certain Hy Dealer out at Wynnum billing a lady $90 for steering flush and fluid.

OMG, I stopped myself saying if you ever have someone charge you for it then it's time to find someone you can trust.

Thanks Gary, you know, I'm just trying to back off on the stabbings :head_butt:

Did he actually bill it or just include it in an (exorbitant) quote for a heap of questionably required things?

Certainly caused a ruckus at the time.

Anyway, all that aside.
Maybe you should consider the brake fluid as well.
And coolant.

I'm OK with coolant.
did it myself a few months ago.

Any recommendations on the brake fluid?

How about the filter for the AT fluid? is that a thing?

Oh yeah. Started on FB when someone alerted her to the errors. Then the tv news got involved. Big deal at the time.
