That I like!!
I was outside today trying to work out if I could fit my Roadmate into the top console, but couldn't get it in a position I like, might just buy a vent mount, as I am not overly impressed with the suction jobby

I have a Garmin GPS already, but I saw this one on an auction site on the internet and got it at a great price. 1500 SEK = 132 GBP "New in a box" Could not resist it...

oooh that looks good. i just bought a garmin GPS, still trying to decide how to 'mount' it
now i'm curious if the casing of that one comes apart

Thats pretty sweet! Hopefully you can give us a review after its installed about loudness etc.
Got me interested as it would be cheaper to buy this and a headunit without nav! Any chance you know what maps/software it uses? Should be able to crack it and download Aust. maps at a later time once I know what software it uses

I wonder about putting electronics in that box in hot countries like Oz. I stored some glasses in there and the lenses shattered after a hot spell.
It gets very hot.

no australia..but shouldn't be too hard with an SD slot or somethings to transfer maps...but pip does have a point about the heat in the top cabinet... possibly wait for our guinea pig to give it a try
-
Here is some info how to mount it (you probably have it...):
http://www.gpstar.de/pdf/GPStar_Einbauanleitung_i30.pdf
I have the same one already installed. I bought it like that from its previous owner. Unfortunately I don't have the SD Card with the maps that comes with it. I will see what I can do about that problem...
BTW, I don't think mine has Bluetooth (there is nothing about it in my software). Can you post a few pictures of its UI to see if it is the same as mine?
I need one more favor - can you tell me where on the SD card is the mobilenavigator.exe file (if such exists)?
-
Given the spec and SD card slot I would think it might boot TomTom (given a suitable license of course). Tricky if you brick it (make it so it wont boot at all) of course.

Hi! :)
I will post some pics after i have installed it...
I tested it a bit today with power from the power outlet and it works great.
Mobilenavigator.exe is in the map "Mobilenavigator" on the SD card.
I could not find any bluetooth in the menus.
The maps on my SD card was a bit old and it cost about 1400 SEK to get new maps. (Not cheap)
Maybe it is possible to download new maps from the "Internet".

As Lorian has said, should be able to get TomTom or something else to run on it. I have a cheap unit from China that runs Windows CE and I have successfully got it to boot and recognise TomTom and Route 66 (it came with Route 66). Once I fiddled with the boot script on the SD card, I can now just change SD cards and reboot and that all there is to it.

That's exactly what I am going to try as soon as I find some free time. Hopefully this weekend...

Let me now if find a solution... :)

Hello,
I was able to fix my GPS. I used that when you press Navigation in the software it opens the Mobilenavigator/Mobilenavigator.exe file. You can put any executable file in the Mobilenavigator folder, rename it to Mobilenavigator.exe and it will be executed when you press Navigation.
I found some "packages" on the "Internet" that are ready to use compilations of different softwares and maps. Some of them are even free. Mine are in Bulgarian and for Bulgaria and Europe, so don't think they will help you much :)
If you need help, PM me and I will try to help you.
Btw, I don't think this gps has bluetooth :(
-
Great! :) :) :)
What program do you use? TomTom or Garmin?
-
I tried with a pack that allows you to select the program you want to use after pressing Navigation. For now I am able to use only iGo. I am trying to enable Garmin as well as the best Bulgarian map is for Garmin. I am sure it is possible to use Garmin as well, but it will need some time to configure it properly.

See its running Navigon software.
Although that interface looks like the Medion version of it
(http://www.hyundai.orangehome.co.uk/images/medion_gps.jpg)
I also use THIS (http://www.navigating.de/cms/index.php?id=708) program for UK speed cameras, the data for the cameras is from Pocketgpsworld (http://www.pocketgpsworld.com)
Number of cameras for different countries can be found HERE (http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/activecams.php)
Hope that may be of some use to you or others :D
-
Looks awesome, yet (somewhat off topic), I am always surprised at how different the centre consoles (climate controls and buttons etc) are on the i30s. Australians will notice it looks different to ours!

I managed to download and install iGO 8 today.
Works great... :)
-
I confirm - IGO 8 works great. I am currently trying to run Garmin as it has best maps for my country (Bulgaria).
-
How did you update yours ??
Did you just replace the files on the SD card ??
