Isnt it HX8 minimum you're supposed to use in the FD's Australia :undecided: HX7 (ECT) is for the euro models with DPF.

I dunno, the oil spec suits A3/B4. but I don't run these out to 15000k either. Been using semi syn for 60000k now in mine, the Mrs I've been slapping EDGE 5W-30 full syn but really would prefer 40. could use 15W if I wanted too if you read the user handbook.

Different to the later GD then, HX8 is minimum spec there.

Better to stick with HX7 before ever using Magnatec  I did have some friction tests somewhere  Magnatec was one of the worst and all beneficial properties were diminished by 2000km's.

I'd also heard Rockingham Hyundai had some warranty claims for using Magnatec in their servicing, they've switched to Edge now.

Interesting, not the first time they've been in question. I think when they first launched MAGNATEC the wording was deemed misleading.

I was a VALVOLINE man for many year s but lookslike SC ditched that line, you know what I mean.

Does the GD have DPF?

Does the GD have DPF?

Not in Australia. Only introduced over here with the PD.

I was pretty sure the FD CRDi was supposed to only have fully synthetic which would have carried over to the GD. The same engine.

Must be written on a document other than the owners manual as there is nothing in there except the weights based on ambients and the Specification.
I'm sure Ful SYn would be preferred, I doubt it's mandatory and if it was I doubt any Oil company would suggest otherwise.

I do have a vague recollection of someone producing maybe an internal note of preferred but the link you posted 10 years  ago is dead.

I see Hyundai stressed the spec in their replly but not fully syn or semi

You are better than anyone at finding stuff!  :hatoff:

But, I'll see what I can find because when we had the 2008 CRDi I was sure we had to use only Fully Synthetic.. Rusty Nutz would been on to it.. Pity we kicked him out a few years back!  :Pout: :snigger:

I was only talking to him on the phone yesterday, I should have asked him!  :spitty:

I believe oil deteriorates over time, but I think you have several years to use it.  :undecided:

I was getting rather concerned with my next service date approaching early next week and no good Supercheap specials to be had :crazy2: luckily a family friend from down south decided to come stay for a few days and mentioned he had a Repco trade account :workitout:

Managed to get Penrite 5W-30 PAO oil and a Ryco Syntec filter for $56, a saving of $50 :happydance:
