Title: Comfort / soundtrack 16 vs 17 alloy wheels
Post by: Mikif on April 18, 2018, 14:27:49
Hi all,
I am considering to buy the new i30.
Is there a notable difference regarding comfort / soundtrack for 16 vs 17 alloy wheels ?
Thanks

Welcome Mikif,

I have an SR model with 18" wheels and "40" profile tyres. I have not driven the middle model with 17" wheels (45 profile), but have done quite a bit of driving in the base active model with 16" (55 profile) tyres.

The difference between the two is noticeable for sure particularly the ride more than the road noise. I don't think the difference would be as pronounced between the 16" and 17" though. The standard Korean tyres we get in Australia are known to be a bit noisy in any profile. Not 100% sure if you guys in Europe get the same ones as standard.

The difference between the 16" and 18" wasn't a deal breaker for me, so I doubt the difference between the 16"and 17" will be an issue for you either. I would try and test drive both if you can just to be sure though.
