Title: Had a test drive, might place order
Post by: rushandy on February 14, 2010, 17:40:25: Well I had an extend test drive on Friday, managed to grab a 1.4 petrol comfort for an overnight / morning stint.

First impressions are pretty good really. The fixtures and fittings seem of a very good quality. The ride is good, and I managed to get very close to the manufactures combined mpg figures (albeit driving very conservatively) despite the fact the car had only 910 miles on the clock.

I was a little underwhelmed with the stereo speakers - they were OK but not great, and I was a little dissapointed with the fact that I won't get a front centre armrest on the 2010 comfort, but a 6 speed box matched to the 1.6 diesel engine goes some way to compensate for that.

I'm going to speak to the suppliers tomorrow to see if we can reach a deal on an order. I'm looking at the 1.6 diesel Edition in metallic silver, with the ISG option added. That comes to £11,890 in total using the scrappage scheme. If I can get a few percent knocked off the total price and some mats and petrol thrown in for free, I'll be fairly happy.

Does anyone have any knowledge / experience of the ISG system? I do quite a bit of stop start driving so I'm thinking that it would start to save me money within a year or so. I remember seeing a review somewhere that said it worked quite well for the diesel, but I don't seem to be able to find it now.

Post by: Lorian on February 14, 2010, 18:00:02: If you banked on ISG giving you another 5mpg average then you would be able to work out your break-even point. If it's 5mpg or not is very subjective based on driver, route, temperature etc. Keep in mind if you do really short distances it might not be so good, because I don't believe it works until the engine is above a certain operating temperature.

We have no impirical data, no one has posted to say they have ISG yet!

Looks in good nick in the photo. Probably a lot better value than one from the dealer.

Not with free petrol thrown in, you won't!

If you do get the diesel make SURE you put diesel in otherwise it may be an expensive error - £500 for a flush thro':exclaim:

Post by: rushandy on February 14, 2010, 21:39:10: I'm not sure how that would fit - it looks like the armrest is a part of the whole centre fixture that runs down to the dashboard - don't think it could just be retro fitted... I asked the dealer about retro fitting one and they seemed to think it would be an awkward job. To be honest, I'm sure I could live without it without too much difficulty really.
