Title: New 1.6lt turbo petrol - any 'rules'
Post by: Barbarulo on September 07, 2018, 15:21:18
Is there anything I need to be aware of with a new SR Premium, engine wise? Do they need to be "run in" in any way? Any behaviours I should avoid? TIA

Just drive it normal and no towing or thrashing it, try to vary your speeds a bit if on longer freeway drives during the first 1500km's...that's it :)

Craig has pretty well covered it. Apparently the N shouldn't be reved over 3000 rpm for the 1st 1000 kms, but haven't heard similar for the SR.

There is usually a run in spiel in the manual if it is necessary, but I never read the manual!  :whistler:

Well that's interesting! I just captured page 12 of the online manual... Keep engine between 2000 and 4000 (bit hard in the DCT where it tries to stay around 1500 RPM as much as possible!) Maybe I should have kept her in sport mode for the first 1000 kms or so? I guess this may relate more to the 2.0 Petrol?  Anyway, here's the page.
