There is quite a good banter between Hyundai "Fan Boys' and badge snobs on the Caradvice forums. Myself (under the alias Robin Graves) and Whitbomb have been giving them some stick, all in good fun. Anyone want to join in? There is also lots of good news and reviews on Hyundais at this site, I think they might be getting some kickbacks.

Hi LDL, someone gave me a Motor mag the other day, a guy that just bought a new Golf TSi was complaining, they should outlaw space saver tyres in AU, also left hand blinker leavers and wide angle drivers side rear view mirrors. makes me wonder how some people go about choosing a new car.
i test drove the golf and others, if i did not like anything i crossed it off my list. but the i30 has the wide drivers side mirror too, at first i did not like it but not i do, this guy with the new golf claimed the mirror almost caused a fatal accident. i just use the inside rear view mirror to judge distance then check the wide angle external mirror, you get used to it and it's a plus.

Yeah I do the same with my mirrors, as a motorbike rider you probably appreciate the field of view the wide mirror gives the driver when changing lanes!

yes, they are also good for reversing.
hey on the tipic of hyundai knockers.
i sometimes go to a ford sight, i just posted on how i like my i30 and how when testing the focus turbo diesel i noticed they stalled easy and a few other problems.
well a guy claims at his place of work they have three i30 CRDi one broke an exhast on the weld, another had half the insument pannel stop working, another would not start, said three out of three not good. i told him i have never seen those problems posted in here. here is a link, hope it works.

Didn't realise you were Robin Graves, nice to met you :lol: and thanks for the assistance in proving the ill informed about how silly they are.
I was actually thinking of throwing a post up in here about the current feuds on CarAdvice, but thought I'd hold off on the big guns for the time being.....
I admit I get alot more hot headed and heavy handed on that site compared to here but I believe rightly so.
I love how people have a go at me for defending Hyundai (and the i30 inparticular) and defend those who have attacked Hyundai, but the moment I say one negative thing about another brand/car I get fire and brimstone brought down upon me.
There's alot of people on that site who need to wake up.
I could go (alot) further but I'll leave the ranting for CA........ :lol: :lol: :lol:

Yeah its pretty easy to get some of those rednecks wound up, good fishing! All in good fun :lol: Caradvice do have some good articles on Hyundais tho - but I'm pretty sure they are getting 'incentive$' - just have a look at the long term review lineup.

Daniel, it's probably true about resale valvue, but i owned a mazda once and i don't think i would own one again. they are finished off to a high standard but, the engineering side is not always that strong or robust. look at those poor souls in Canbera not long back, they were in a Mazda 3 later model and got hit by a stollen old model mazda and there late model mazda 3 broke in half, no amount of air bags or electronic sability can help you if a car breaks in half it is the worst possible thing besides fire that could happen in an accident.
take Razy's car it has airbags removed but with the roll cadge this ads structual ridgity & strength to the body then he has race seats that hold you were you should be and 6 point safty harness plus they wear helmets much safer than any factory car. no aircond eather, that ads weight and takes power to drive, all the safty air bags and so on, add weight extra wire to hook up to ECU add's weight. a modern EFI car is heavy .

Daniel, another point these guy's don't seem to talk about is, do you think Mazda 3 suitable for Aussie conditions?
if the answer is yes, ask how we get on if we are 1 hour from Broken Hill on a back road in 45c temps as this would make the road temp around 70c at the least, then you get a flat, what speed can you do with that space saver tyre? with the car loaded for a trip? as the Hy come with same type wheel the car already uses like SLX has 16" mag wheel spare.
yet another point for the i30 over the Mazda 3 was only pointed out to my on my last trip with four full size adults in the i30. the people in the back flew over from ADL SA, they said how much more rear seat leg room the i30 had over there friends new Mazda 3 they had to also ride in, and they road for 1,000k in the rear of my i30 and said how compfortable they were, also they were suprised at the fact i did not once fill up the car with fuel while they were here.
but those guys on car advice seem to be sunday drivers so would not understand.

I haven't read their latest posts but resale value on the Diesel i30 (in particular) is as strong as any other Asian Made car now... :D
