Hey guys, hopefully this hasn't been posted already, however I was wondering if the i30 (petrol in my case, but I guess it's safe to assume it's the same for the diesel) has a cable or hydraulic clutch. I have had a funny "chirping" noise from my car, and when I so much as touch the clutch it disappears. I was talking to a friend who asked if it was a cable clutch, and I told him I had no idea. If it is a cable clutch, the cable may just need to be tightened to stop this chirping.
(No, this isn't an "issue", more out of interest topic :D )

Hydraulic.....
The chirping you describe sounds lik the thrust bearing....
If it is the thrust i would get it look at ASAP as i had the same prob with my Subaru and just left it and in the end it locked up and wrecked my clutch fork

Thanks mate. Got a log book service soon, will bring it up ASAP!

our clutch is a hydraulic set up,not a cable.

*Can we get this moved to Non Specific Issue please?*
Took my car for 45000km service yesterday, and they heard this noise, and now want to rip the gearbox out for inspection on the 15th March.
Has any one else had this gearbox rattle/chirp noise..?

There was a noise in my clutch bearing during lifting up my foot.
So they have changed my clutch at 34000km from warranty,

Have not heard anything out of mine as yet.....

Well, Hyundai dealer has my i30, and will hopefully hear from them soon regarding the previous issue.
Now I have to deal with a Mitsubishi Lancer, auto for a few days! Apparently average fuel consumption on this car is 20L/100km!
