There have been a few threads about about unusual locking behaviour so I thought I would document the following...
Yesterday morning (still dark) I got out of the car, closed door, pressed lock button on remote key fob.
Noticed sidelights were on as if I were still in the car, hmm that's unusual. I often leave lights switched on knowing that once the key is out of ignition and door is opened that they will go off. Tried to lock/unlock doors with fob, no response or flashing indicators. Doors still unlocked but all completely shut. Got into car, tried to lock doors with remote to no avail. Repeated the above, lights still on and definitely no doors open (they would show on dash display). Only when switching engine on and off again did I manage to lock doors and turn off lights. It hasn't happened since so can only assume it was a one-off glitch but it got me thinking. Any similar experiences?

 now that is one weird experience that I haven't encountered. I would be tempted to treat it as a "glitch" but also to do something about it. I would disconnect the battery -ve lead and leave it half an hour, then reconnect. A few posts on our forum suggest that action might reset certain things.
From what you said it isn't easily repeatable... pity.

That is unusual, have you been getting the really damp, cold weather, perhaps a bit of condensation???

Strange you should mention this , it's started to happen to mine ! Locked car late yesterday , checked all switches were off , came out in the morning, parking lights on ! But switch was off ! No dash illumination at all , all doors locked. Unlocked car , checked switches , all off. Put key in ignition , moved to ON , lights went off.
Locked car again, went back inside , knock on door about 15mins later , neighbour says "lights on car " , dumb founded , I went back out , lights on again. Did same as before , all ok. Went out 15 mins later , lights on again !!
I think there's a ghostie in my machine !!
I could understand parking lights going out , but ON ???

Very strange.. Might have to identify and remove the offending fuse until sorted so you don't end up with a flat battery...

It's actually got worse , was eating lunch out yeterday and could see the rear from the dining area , was fine for about 1/2 hour then the taillights decided to send morse code ! Blinked on & off for more than 5 minutes !
It's in for service today , don't know what they'll make of it.

may be it is talking to other cars. It happens in cartoons

Well , have to say I'm impressed with Hyundai service @ Noosaville.
They looked at the forums report , checked the car out , actually believed me !
They found a fault in a circuit board near the steering wheel that the light circuits go through and there was a small bit of metallic swarf that was making an intermittent contact, turning the parking lights on. Plainly a faulty bit , replaced same , been fine ever since , phew !
Was a most peculiar fault though , as they said , some lights faults in I30's are definitely keylock system related.

I wonder if that's the problem that L3ON has/had

Exactly the same thing happened to me last night, lights stayed on car wouldn't lock.
Try jiggling the key, there is a sensor in the key barrel to detect when the key is removed.
