Title: NEW MICHELIN TYRES
Post by: eye30 on March 07, 2010, 14:38:58
New Michelin Tyres... Absolutely SCARY looking... Look for 'em in August.
These tyres are made in  Greenville,  South Carolina , USA ..
SEE THROUGH TYRES
Radical new tire design by Michelin.
The next generation of tyres.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

Yes, those are 'spoke' like connections to the inner part of the tyre from the outside tread 'wrap!'
The next picture shows how odd it looks in motion...

Makes you wonder how the ride feels doesn't it?

These tyres are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.
The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these.
Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...
D.. no more flats...
These are actual pictures taken at the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

Those look interesting, and the benefits over existing technology could be substantial.

I hope they put sidewalls, if only decorative ones, on the final version though.

Definitely need sidewalls, or else the little sods who currently pinch valve caps etc, will arm themselves with wire snips and cut your "spokes"

Well spotted.  Must be little sods where you live

I think these are just for show and will never actually be introduced for mass sale.  But............lets wait and see later this year.

...and the time you will spend to remove all that dirt. Besides you can easily get a strained wrist while using the sponge
