GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => GENERAL => Topic started by: Davo on March 12, 2010, 05:45:15

 I run a CB in the I30 petrol, powered from a front accessory socket. However although I have tried two different plugs, each is a very sloppy fit and after a few kilometers disconnects.
This had not happened with previous makes of car, so I wonder if the sockets are of larger and non standard to every other car?

Davo,
I use both sockets on a regular basis and have had no issues at all. Never had to push in the adapter to reseat it. Firm as a ... (no can't say that here).

No problems here either I have GPS plugged into one and mobile charger in the other (sometimes hands free bluetooth charger.. very occassionally if bumped I have to reseat one or the other...

Same for me, GPS has never disconnected.

Maybe the current is high, the connector has some resistance and is heating up?

I had the opposite problem, the 12v plug got stuck and I had to pull the whole socket out. I put it down to the particular charging plug rather than the socket as other appliances have been fine.

The newer car sockets are not quite as deep as the older versions and this can lead to your problem. Some adapters or plugs do a disk which can be fitted to them on the end to stop them moving from side to side which solves the problem.
Cannot find picture at the moment
