Title: One for Hemmi - Volcanic meal cooked over hot lava at Iceland eruption site

A group of Icelandic chefs this week offered customers a unique gastronomical experience: a gourmet meal cooked over hot lava and served near an ongoing volcanic eruption

On the menu: lobster soup, followed by flaming lobster and monkfish and lava-cooked shallot onions, swafllowed down with Veuve Clicquot champagne.

ps All I'm having tonight is a poke of chips and a savoury cake. :lol:

"poke" of chips = a portion of chips/french fries from the chip shop/take away.

Normally the chips are wrapped up in paper whereas a poke is usually a smaller portion left either open or in a paper cone


"savoury cake" or fish cake = a mix of potato and fish and or seasoning and or sage/onion in batter

Thanks Eye.. When people say they were getting a poke it only meant one thing to me until facebook came along... :lol:

I like fish cakes or patties (never heard them called savoury cakes over here but possibly could be in other states)
