Hi Brian. Which model and year do you have. If it's getting on a bit the actuator in the hatch may be on the way out. It happens from time to time unfortunately.  :undecided:

I would want to know if  in normal use when the fob locks the car is the boot locked?, when the fob is used to unlock the car can the boot be opened?

If it can't then it sounds like the actuator/lock is faulty. If it can then that's where the fun begins I guess.

We don't know what series this is but the remote is different to my FD which the boot release in the middle.

Assuming the systems are similar across the board mine works like this. Hold the boot button until hazards blink twice, operate the boot button at the hatch, opens as normal.

Close hatch, single blink of hazard , indicating vehicle is locked and armed.

PD , now that I check your intro. You're not expecting it to unlatch by itself, you're pushing the release button on the hatch?

@Dazzler  I guess yours is smart key

Yep, mine is smart key. If it's a PD then you'd expect actuator to still be ok!

Boot button allows boot to be opened without unlocking car.
You still need to press the boot open button on the hatch to open it.
