A 12-year-old US schoolgirl is suing the New York City authorities for $1m (£650,000) in damages after she was arrested for writing on her desk.

Only in America :eek: (sorry American members) Glad I didn't go to school over there as what I probably did to my desk at school would have resulted in a lethal injection :lol:

There are two things wrong with this story: First the rediculous overreaction and arrest and secondly the child's ability to sue for an equally rediculous $1 million.
I really, really, really hope that few other countries follow America with this sort of nonsense.
I'm reminded of a quotation I once read that said, "The only thing wrong with common sense is that it's not so common!".
