Title: Glass "humming noise"
Post by: FridayFeeling on July 01, 2019, 08:40:53
Hey new to the forum. I have a 2014 Hyundai I 30  In recent months, there is a glass humming/ vibrating sound inside the car.  Appears to be coming from the driver door/ wing mirror area. I have emptied car and it's still there. It is a glass sound, definitely not a wheel baring. Possibly driver door window. Quick check shows nothing out of place. I understand I will have to disassemble driver door etc. Just wondering if anyone has had this or a solution? Any quick fix etc. before I take it apart or end up at main dealer. It goes away on smooth surface. More obvious on less smooth roads. Also seems to quieten when I go over 60km/h
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried pressing on all the likely glass surfaces to try to silence - hence identify - it?

Could it be by chance sound from speaker in door?

Polite reply.  :whistler:

Hmmmmm'
Glass relaying speaker sounds only on rough roads.

Does your glass play any of these?

Hit the Road Jack
Road to Nowhere
On the Road Again
Little Red Corvette
Mustang Sally

Humming can mean many things to many people.

So to me humming could be static type noise via radio........

It could even be a subdued repetitive contact between a part of a loom and the door skin

Or could the door skin have become unbonded from the intrusion bars and is drumming, ( close to humming) ? When you clase the door does it make the sound then as well?

I've had a pair of i30 doors have whatever expanding ahesive come away from the doors internally and the skins were very resonant.
