changing the fuel-filter on a i30 diesel,looks a bit tricky to get to plus the filter itself is encased in another cover. any help

Welcome to the club Mitchell.. You obviously have a great car (which you have had for a while) My first fuel filter change is about to happen at my 60,000 service which i will get done by a mechanic (so can't help there I'm afraid)
I will have to move this thread to the appropriate section...

Because I never started the engine. I got the car towed to my usual service place and the tank was thoroughly drained and cleaned... I did put a fuel conditioner in the next tank and she has been going perfectly ever since...

obviously no filter needed as engine not fired up, :-[ i should have remembered. :rolleyes: :-[

Thanks for the welcome,my diesel wagon which I think is a tremendous vehicle has only done 12000k so Im a a bit premature thinking about a fuel-filter change , the filter itself cost $66 from Burson automotive spares against the dealer quoting $90.When the time comes for the change I,ll get it done at my regular mechanic who is a top VACC registered tradesman.Looking at the filter I thought it would be a simple spin-off spin-on then bleed job so I hopeing for some info.

Don't worry m8, they are extreamly easy to change, and i much prefer the type oil filter the CRDi use to a cartrage type. but thats just how i feel personaly, my main reason is i like to inspect the oil filter eliment, just to checxk no metal that sould not be there is showing. so with this type that job is easy.
the fuel filter is easy to change if you know what to do & have the tools to suit. but i'm not telling people to do it themself.
with diesel fuel filters you can be lucky, then again you can be unlucky. but if you are fussy what fuel you put in the tank and you only use or buy from reputable outlets with a good name, not the cheapest. you should be fine.
a friend had to change his Benz diesel filter a few times as was getting water light come on. if water goes in we don't go far!
Tasmania is a small island refuge with friendly natives, rugged wild country in parts, and extream beauty that refects life b4 the ice age. so the walk is no more than say 200K maybe 300k if no friends at all. but Dazz has friends world wide he's safe :lol:

i thought i should note, i'm one of the survivores, so my slang might be hard to understand for our good m8's and fellow i30 punters around the world. :wink:
