Title: diesel gearbox oil
Post by: squirrell48 on July 19, 2019, 18:10:06
I own a 2010 1582cc manual diesel i30.  Does the gearbox oil ever need changing?  If so, how often.

Yes it does require changing at some stage, I think every 100k or 120k :undecided:

It says In the manual, if you drive in challenging conditions it need to be changed.

That is basicly BS. What is challenging is a subjective matter. Change the oil. I use 3 year / 60 000km intervals. Oil is easy to Change DIY and you only need 2 cans of oil (1.7 litre In total if I remember correctly). So basicly 20€ worth of oil is not reason to risk the transmission in my opinion.
